How long will it be until people stop supporting developers who don't deliver? A year is a long time.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleSo, are the game designers, writers, artists, etc. all supposed to jump in and help finish the Linux port? No, they carry on with the next project. The new game is going to be shown at E3 this year, you need programmers to make the game...that means less people supporting Divinity (they aren't a big company), so...you can see where I am going.

Quoting: LeonardKI would actually well imagine that Linux has far more share on Gog than on Steam.Yeah, but their FAQ states eventually, so their language relating to Linux on that page alone is conflicting.
But actually here [External Link] they say: "GOG Galaxy requires at least Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.8 and soon is coming to Linux."

I won't defend a developer who promises, promises, promises and....nothing happens. If they eventually bring it to Linux then great for the people who helped them so long ago.
I think it's really bad to keep people waiting who funded them.

Quoting: SamsaiI tried the alpha of Galaxy on a VM and it seems like a nice and well-designed client. Once they get the client running natively on Linux I'll probably buy games from GOG rather than Steam every time I can.I would also much prefer to buy from GOG for their values, but I like the convenience of the Steam client. This is how I imagine a lot of people feel about Galaxy.

Edit: I've reached out to them on twitter to see if they have any update.

Quoting: DrMcCoyTo be fair, studios can often very productively work on multiple games that are in different stages.Of course, but Larian isn't a massive studio, and they were struggling to get a Linux version out as it was. Now they have a new project with a Publisher so it doesn't look healthy for us, I sure hope they deliver on their promise.
Still... I'm quite frustrated with Larian Studios. :/

@Kurremkarmerruk, How does the characters huffing not drive you insane? I stand by all my other comments. I don't think it looks good, there were no villages to find before I starved, and no flint anywhere.

New Linux Gaming Survey For May

Quoting: neffoThe Virtual Programming port question is a really terrible. No, your suggested question would probably confuse people due to technobabble language. People need to remember that probably a good 90% of gamers and people filling it out won't even know what an API is.
The question really should be something like "Do you support the use of graphic API translation layers/shims in porting games to Linux?"
(Of course that would apply to DX9 Togl games which nobody seems to have an issue with.)
Quoting: damarrin"Terrible" was such an unnecessarily strong word. The VP ports are what's on everyone's mind in this respect, especially with the new game announced just recently. It's as good a representation of all layers as any.Exactly. Point made well here.
Quoting: tadzik"Games using Wine wrappers (such as The Witcher 2)" – this is wrong, Witcher 2 is not using wine. Perhaps you could change that to System Shock 2, where it is indeed the case?Oh yeah I didn't even noticed that, @Seg, this needs a wee bit of editing.
