Quoting: DaifukuIndeed it is silly how many developers seems to keep locking their work under external propietary technology they cant controlStart reading from this post. [External Link] Since we are already discussing this topic, what do you make of linked content?

Quoting: owen123What? I swear a friend told me it had one...or maybe he said that it will come later. Checking the website, it seems like the latter. Sorry about that!Quoting: Quote from FutureSutureThere isn't Linux versionQuoting: Quote from Quote from SamsaiHave you heard of Open Broadcaster Software [External Link]?Quoting: Quote from Quote from Quote from owen123I guessing you playing that on linux. If so what recorder program are you using? ThanksI am using SimpleScreenRecorder [External Link] to record the game and Audacity to record the commentary. Then I just sync the tracks in OpenShot so that the video has both the audio from the game and the audio from my mic.

Quoting: n30p1r4t3I am talking hypotheticals here. I didn't say anything is actually happening, although I wish it did. :'(Quoting: Quote from FutureSutureMicrosoft had a contract with EPIC, so EPIC really didn't have a say. Haha.Quoting: Quote from Quote from scaineIt just feels like the snowball is reaching that point in the hill where nothing will stop it now. I think icing on the cake would be Portal 2 from Valve. But it sure seems like nearly every developer and their dog has their engine working in linux now.Epic is a big fan of Microsoft's Xbox so I doubt that the company will be making any moves to make the lives of Linux users even more blissful. Portal 2 is already confirmed for Linux and Valve is steadfast in its support of the platform. What would be the icing on cake for me would be GOG finally selling games with Linux clients and by extension CD Projekt RED bringing The Witcher series in its entirety as well as Cyberpunk 2077 to Linux natively.
I'd like to see more support from Unreal, right enough. What's the script with them anyway? A couple of games have been ported (Killing Floor and Dungeon Defenders), but is there no support directly or something? Do U3 games have to be "worked on" more extensively to support linux?
Any source for the Witcher being ported? Anything recent?

Lastly: Please don't buy a copy until the Linux version is actually out, sadly it seems some developers have been using the promise of a Linux version to get more interest and then delay after delay nothing comes out of it. Be smart with your wallets.I appreciate this part of the article the most. Don't fall for the hype, people.

Quoting: Bumadarps, might be totally wrong, but kalypso is german, deepsilver is germain and since linux is used a lot there in the goverment sector for instance, feels like the developers there are picking it up more, but might just be me looking wrongThe Germans are doing it right. Wish I could say the same about the Poles. GOG is taking way too long.
