Surprise, F1 2017 for Linux appears on SteamDB

Steam User reviews are sitting at a solid 91% (all languages) 2 days after release. This looks like THE version that Linux needs - hoping for Vulkan support for that added smoothness. Can't wait!

How can we donate some money specifically towards an HTC Vive for GOL? It would be great to see GOL being able to report on and test the progress of VR on Linux. Is it possible to setup a separate fund in your Patreon account, capped at the cost of a Vive, and where people could do one-off donations towards that cause? Just an idea.

This is one of the few games which was TOO addictive, and I had to force myself to stop playing it.

That Green Cities stuff looks mighty fine though... maybe just one more city... Nooooooooo!

The HTC Vive just had a price cut, VR just became a little more accessible

Quoting: mike44Once X-Plane supports it, I'll have a look again. But I might wait for the next gen.

But there's a good chance it won't support OpenVR on Linux and you won't have to spend money.

X-plane VR support will be out long before their Vulkan support is finished, and as Linux SteamVR needs Vulkan, we will not see Linux supported initially. I really hope they add Linux VR support together with the Vulkan release though, because X-plane is one big reason I would get a VR headset.

I liked F1 2015, and would get the greatly improved F1 2017 in a flash if it came to Linux. Please port it!

They do have big plans there - I hope it all goes well for them. The Linux version will depend a lot on the state of the UE4 engine by release time next year.

Thanks for the heads up. I was about to buy it to play this weekend... that was not well communicated at all.

What have you been playing on Linux lately and what do you think?

Overlord (I had this in my library for ages, but finally decided to give it a go - and what a great game! 20 hours in and I'm nearing the end. The port has been completely stable, but keyboard and Steam Controller support are a mess. I played with a XB360 controller, which works fine).

Divinity Orignal Sin (Playing local co-op split-screen. What a great RPG and another solid port).

X-Plane 11 (As a long-term Flight Simmer, this release really is the best I've tried for General Aviation to date, and they have great plans over the next months/years including VR support).
