LASTFIGHT, a pretty good looking fighting game just released on Linux

Looks interesting! This may end up on my wish list if it works well on Linux.

Rocket League thoughts on Linux, initial port report, it’s also 25% off right now

THE TTimo is responsible of this??? The Linux porter of Doom 3 and Quake 4??!

Or is another Ttimo?
Since the guy has been working for id Software before, it would be a rather large coincidence if it was another one :P Didn't he do *all* the Linux ports of id Software's games?

I wonder why he left id Software (and when). I faintly remember reading about him leaving at one point.

The developers of Armello are facing a bit of a backlash over the DLC not coming to GOG

An email I got from the devs:

"Hi Kristian,

We closely monitor who engages with Armello and it's no longer viable for us to continuously update the DRM Free version of Armello. The game will continue to exist in it's current state and we're proud of how far we've been able to take it.

As online services are required to verify if any given player has access to the DLC heroes, it's not compatible with the DRM-Free version of Armello.

Thanks,

Lisy Kane
Producer"
This doesn't make sense at all.

They can have a switch in the code for "HasDLC" and check that switch both on their own copy and on the copy of the players they play with (since they have a network connection).

My guess is that they are using a Steam-specific library (Steamworks?) to distribute the DLC which obviously is not in their GoG version. They just don't want to invest the time to build a non-Steam-specific distribution functionality into the DRM-free version of the game.

Slime Rancher updated, hits 300K sales and I asked the developer about their Linux support
5 Aug 2016 at 3:46 pm UTC

According to those numbers, Linux sales have amounted to about 30'000 dollars currently.

If they think that was not worth it, they must have spent more time on Linux-specific issues than I would have expected. *Or* their standards of something being worth it are different from mine.

The curious tale of vanishing Linux & SteamOS ports, a status on a few of them

Count me to the ones waiting for Street Fighter V. At least I have not yet bought it but I would love to give them my money as soon as the Linux version is out.

Capcom officially (on Twitter?) confirmed that a SteamOS version is in the works so I don't think they can talk themselves that easily out of that. What makes me somewhat worried though is that Sony is the main sponsor of Street Fighter V (apparently with out their money it would not have been made). Since SteamOS can be considered a console-like experience, maybe Sony does not want it to be ported after all...

Street Fighter V has passed the initial Linux & SteamOS release window

*sigh* in this case I held back and still haven't bought SF V because I wanted to wait for Linux support. Just release the Linux version already so I can give you money, Capcom!

What are you playing this weekend?

I played some Skullgirls with my now supported (since Linux 4.6) MadCatz FightStick TE2 (I sent a patch to add the PID/VIDs for the stick to the xpad.c Linux driver). Tomorrow I won't have time to play further anymore though since I am going on a one-day trip.

Feral Interactive are teasing another new Linux & Mac port with a new clue

Quoting: subI guess it's a trolling attempt by Feral - to make us think it is DOOM.
*sigh* that's what I think too. DOOM (2016) on Linux is what I want (even though I would have to buy a new graphics card to play it) and what I would buy immediately.

There is now an open source driver and GTK3 based UI for interacting with the Steam Controller
24 May 2016 at 6:34 pm UTC

Argh, I actually bought two Steam Controllers because I was rather sure that I read their drivers are Open Source (and in the Kernel already). Does not seem to be the case after all...
