Metro 2033 Redux & Metro Last Light Redux Launch On Linux, Sorta (UPDATED)
13 Dec 2014 at 5:22 pm UTC

Quoting: WorMzyOddly, everything seems to work really well, except for the loading screens which lag and/or hang for a second of two when they first appear.
It's not oddly, it is a really good port. I was aprehensive when I saw the hiccpus on the intro cutscene and loading screens but the game itself runs great.

I don't know much about computer graphics but the game does seem to definitely have some tesselation enable, at least at very high settings.

About having some missing graphical options, this game come out for linux with steamOS in mind, I guess. We have to be realistic about that, so maybe we should expect some "consolization" of some linux games. I can certainly live with that and hope for more quality ports like this one, although maybe there are still a couple of patches coming in and who knows what they might bring. Also, I really hope that Bioshock Infinite will be a port alike this one and run like it.

No hiccups or lock ups with a single nvidia gtx 670 card with very high settings (and without ssao) and 343.xx proprietary drivers. The game actually runs butter smooth for me. So I guess it might have do to with your configuration?...

I mentioned Metro Redux games hinting that an article should be written to announce this. However, Metro games are taking ages to appear on my library, arggh. But it is announced and the tux icon and the system requirements (opengl 4.0) are in the store page of the games. Anyway, thanks to Frozenbyte for Trine. And the Talos Principle also looks amazing ... (87 metacritic score so far). Great linux gaming day ...

It seems that sound issues have been common in Total war games. Try different sound settings like raising the sound cache.

Played the tutorial and, as expected from a Feral port, it run smoothly with ultra settings on my rig: ubuntu 14.04, kernel 3.16 and Nvidia gtx 670 with proprietary drivers 340 :)
