If you don't want to change between intel/nvidia at runtime, you don't have to use primusrun.

Sounds similar to the problem I had, but with Schenker XMG P502 PRO (Clevo P150EM) and a Nvidia 670MX. From one day to another nvidia stoped working.
Took me some messing around with it...

This is how I got it back up:
- use the xorg edgers ppa
- install nvidia-340 (the others like 346 didn't work)
- deaktivate xorg edgers ppa (so no new updates can mess things up)
- install primusrun from git (to get Metro Redux working)

I hope I didn't forget anything, really took some time...
