Quoting: jordicomaInteresting. When it suports firefox (with open standards) and radeon gpus I'll try.
Hopefully someone will make it, as is opensource.
Pretty sure Firefox at least in the past has NOT supported all the standards that most these game streaming services use. its on firefox not these services as NONE of them support Firefox. want to be able to use Firefox hound them on their tracker to add the required features.

NVIDIA switching to open kernel modules by default in future driver update for Turing+

Quoting: tpauNow we need the same for <turing too :)
As much as I would like this, they have to draw the line somewhere when it comes to old architecture support. For them that is Turing, which made its debut in 2019. And as much as I hate to say it, 5 years is pretty typical for hardware support across most industries.

Still, the push for making the open kernel module a 1st class citizen is great news!
The Opensource kernel modules support Turing and Newer......

Quoting: SlyvanThe linux .so library is missing again... i hope this will be checked more often. I hate the fact that no one tests for linux/the steamdeck. This happens so frequently that i almost think it's on purpose...
Oh the they hate that gaming is moving on to a open platform so they diff try to make it a headache on purpose cause aint no way they keep forgetting to tick the Linux box or forget the .so files lol

Quoting: Mountain ManHow dare Nintendo protect its intellectual property!
Not whats going on here at ALL.. If anything they are twisting the DMCA laws here. Yuzu and in turn suyu does NOT even provide the keys to play the games you have to provide that yourself... And yuzu showing folks how to get their keys no way in ANY fashion broke any law

Quoting: fabertaweI quite enjoyed the Amazon Fallout series, more than I thought I would. I've only played "3" so far and the storyline didn't follow that, so was it based on "FNV" or "4" at all?
The show is cannon I am pretty sure it takes place between Fallout New Vegas and 4 but it may be after 4

Respawn release statement and update on the Apex Legends hacking situation

Quoting: dpanterSo it's not EAC's fault and it's also not Apex Legends fault? Or... how is this message supposed to be interpreted? Doesn't seem like an admission of fault, more like Respawn saying "we're just gonna fix some stuff don't worry about it oh also some people were hacked or whatever probably random and unrelated dw gyze lol"
This soon after the hacks they are NOT going to actually detail what happened for fear of more breaches lol.. will be a long while before anyone knows what actually happened.. in a closed source project like AA/AAA games you never want to exposed known vulnerabilities due to not wanting to be attacked more.

In the Open source world we expose them to get the community involved in fixing it and/or just projecting the community

Palworld is getting external anti-cheat but it will be mostly optional
20 Feb 2024 at 2:14 am UTC Likes: 1

Well hopefully they use a compatible Anti-cheat so we can use it on Linux as I run a server and have seen a few hackers/cheaters and would like to run the anti-cheat on my server and still be able to play on my Arch install.. if not guess Palworld will get moved to my Windows VM

Translation

Actually completely different things that attempt to get the same end result.
Translation has universally been better when possible.
Wish folks would get that.. and understand due to translation games in proton ARE actually running native due to their api calls being translated to native linux calls and NOT emulated

Paradox confirm no Linux support for Prison Architect 2 but investigating Steam Deck

I am fine with Devs not half assed "investing" into native binaries for games cause years past we got a lot of poor linux ports to be frank and alot of my native games don't even work anymore without alot of tweaks.. proton just click install and done 90% of the time on my end.. I do expect though as we continue to grow as a market they give us proper ports and not the pile of poo we got in the past
