Will Google leave the Stadia spigot on just enough for game owners to access their games? Will game owners be able to download their games just before Google pulls the Stadia plug? Or will Stadia just not be there one day, a sign on the Stadia door that says "Gone Fishing."?

"FREE'S FREE!!" has long been my call to action, but it's also left me with games that, if I'm honest, I'm never going to play. This would be one of those games. I'm never going to play this. If I try, I'll die, over and over again ... and again (and again) ad absurdum. It looks like a good little game, just ... for other people.

It looks like fun to me, not $25 fun mind you, but fun. I'm putting it on my Wishlist so I'll know when it goes on sale for a price closer to the fun I see. ;)
Wolfire Games filed a lawsuit against Valve over abuse of their market position

An artist selling in a gallery typically nets only 50% of the selling price of a painting or other work of art. Thus the rule of thumb I learned was to add up time, all materials, transportation costs, etc., and double the sum to get your asking price. The gallery was never seen as "taking 50% from" the artist, but as having more of a partnership role, a contracted sales force for the artist.
Furthermore, for reasons that should be pretty obvious, if you're selling through galleries, selling your art cheaper outside those galleries system is systemically, if not contractually, verboten.
Ok Sweeny, come out, come out wherever you are ...

Quoting: rustybroomhandleThe 30% may seem high, but it's a pretty standard retail markup. In a lot of cases as with physical goods, markups* are even higher. Anyway, I predict that Valve will actually drop to 12% in line with some other stores eventually.Good point! Because of my experiences, Valve has always seemed to me to be more of a gallery than a straightforward retail outlet, but in either situation the price typically goes up 50% or more above wholesale.
* Although I guess technically not a markup since the starting point is the retail price, not the wholesale price.

Dark Envoy is a non-linear sci-fantasy RPG coming in 2022 and it's looking good

Any word about how battlefields will be determined in Dark Envoy? Will it be something more directly related to the characters' location on the map (like Original Sin or Shadowrun) or will it be only notionally related to the characters' position on the map like it was in Tower of Time, where battlefields were always one of a handful of underground sets unrelated to a dungeon location?
The constant returning to the same battlefields in Tower of Time became so boring that I just stopped playing mid-battle, which was a pity because the rest of the game was good.

The power of FOSS in action, baby.
The bad-ol'-puddycats at the U o' Monty were stopped by the bazaar I work in and a paradigm I believe in
I furiously fill with a sense of pride when I see my Community respond to a threat. The Community is so egalitarian and sharing, it's often easy to forget that it has real teeth. So, yeah, let's hold UoM accountable in a meaningful way: exile and hopefully, possibly, litigation. (also, it'll be interesting to see what, if any, reaction Anonymous-types have to this debacle.)
Researchers like these, without an atom of a jot of scruples, flouting the very notion of ethics, deserve exile at the very least. Personally, I'd love to see these "researchers" drummed from the scientific community forever. They're either too unethical or too sack-of-hammers ignorant to continue in academia.
So huzzah, brethren, sistren, et al of the Community. Raise your metaphorical glasses and join me in a toast to FOSS and another successful blow to the Cathedral!
** Ok, I need to take a cold shower now, before my sense of drama carries me yet further away. **

Quoting: denyasisIt's certainly the kind of thing I'd like to hear more about. I think we all could benefit by listening to each other's tales of woe and wonder gaming on obscure or niche distros such as Sparky. For example, I just hopped over to distrowatch.com to read up on Sparky. The review I found [External Link] did not make Sparky sound good, but then you gamed on it for 4 years, so clearly there was something about it that kept you using it.Quoting: NanobangThis got me thinking about how much I'd like to read an article about what's it like to try and game on some of the less popular stalwarts of Linux. I'm talking about distros such as Mageia & Open Mandriva, Mepis, PCLinuxOS,AntiX & Tiny Core, Gentoo & Knoppix, or even Elive. (I'd try it out, but my slow internet would guarantee the whole project would take way, way too long.)Not sure if it counts, but I ran Sparky Linux for about 4 years on my gaming machine. It's debian testing based.
I don't think there is much difference when the OS is based on another distro upstream. After all the upstream is mostly the same. Most of the issues I had were minor, quality of life, type issues. Presumably due to a smaller dev team, testing base, etc. Everything worked fine. But when something broke, you were a little more on your own.
Hope that helps
