Quoting: buckysrevengeI think I might have to pick up a third steam controller, that's an incredible priceSame here. Although the two I have are working as good as the day I got them, and I got one of those the month before the official release because I pre-ordered it. At $5 how can I not? I can't ever see playing any other way ever again.

It looks like everything shown is cosmetic only, is that the case? Also, will this proposed system allow for earning "credits" thru play as well as purchase? Or is this a richer-kids-have-cooler-cars setup?

I really like the look of this. I mean artistically. Look at those character portraits. What I find interesting is that it looks like Worthless Bums is planning a trilogy [External Link] where each iteration is done in a different style, and every one in Linux!!
Stadia looks to be very limited at launch and not just the amount of games

My guess is that this service is primarily aimed at the mobile market and getting things in place on the ground floor for the much ballyhooed 5g network---a sort of Steam for the mobile market.
Personally, the whole thing leaves me deeply unimpressed. Essentially Stadia players are paying for the privilege of being data generating machines for Google. I'm simply not prepared to pay a monthly fee just to pay yet more money buying/leasing games solely to generate data for Google to sell to advertisers.
If Google wants my data, I will gladly share it with them for a small fee. In the case of Stadia, they can give me the games and controller in exchange for the data I then generate playing those games. Otherwise, like Gmail, Google docs, and the rest of it, Google can just piss off.

It sounds like the majority of game time is spent with the worst game mechanic. If simple movement is tedious in a game where most of my time is spent moving from place to place, then I'm going to find the game tedious, and I won't care how cute or charming the graphics are, how novel the environment is, or how clever the puzzles may be, I'm going to resent every second spent enduring what amounts to a trudge simulator.
Thanks for the excellent write up, Liam. It's clear that this is one game I should just avoid. :)

I like this. I'm usually fairly decent at PvP stuff, but rarely get into them because I'll have to die a lot while I'm learning the map: where folks will hide, where they'll ambush from, how they'll try and flank, etc. This way only the AI will see my humiliating learning curve. It might be time to check out PVK2.

It looks like all the menus that one normally opens in other games are just externalized here? Still keen to see where this goes and looking forward to buying it when it gets closer to wherever that may be.

I'm in the "I like it" camp, primarily because I can see my games much better from 3m away on my 1080p TV. I'm used to the Steam UI being a bit clunky and sluggish so I don't find the new Library UI to be particularly slow to load or sluggish. In fact, compared to the videos on any game's store page, the library loads up impressively fast.
I wouldn't mind it if installed vs uninstalled games were less subtly indicated, perhaps uninstalled could be a bit dimmed? The little down-arrow-above-a...tray? a dead bracket?---whatever it is---is impossible to see on many of the game pictures. In fact, it seems it isn't always correctly present or missing. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:
Collapse and Contagion appear installed. Codename Cure and Crashlands might be, but any install symbol is lost in the noise of the game's picture. None of these games are, in point of fact, actually installed. If it weren't for the list to the left of the screen, I wouldn't know what exactly was or wasn't installed.
All in all a step in the right direction, this new library. Now if Valve could just optimize the rest of the client to be half as spry as Steam is in Firefox...
