Man, there are days where this is exactly what I want to play. This will be downloaded for sure!

D9VK is no more as it merges with DXVK, making DXVK a D3D 9/10/11 to Vulkan layer

I'm guessing that means that the days of PROTON_USE_D9VK=1 %command% are rapidly drawing to a close, yeah? There is a Santa-bot 3000!

Steam Play Proton 4.11-10 out, mouse handling improvements and Halo: The Master Chief Collection works

Quoting: Liam Dawe
Quoting: NanobangUnfortunately, 4.11-10 messed up something with Borderlands 2 for me. Whilst Nvidia reported FPS around 120, it kinda looked as if every other frame was being displayed---jumpy, not smooth. Most disconcerting was the way a frame would flash on the screen from an entirely different sequence altogether, like a menu frame while running through Sanctuary or something.

Rolling back to 4.2-9 fixed it right up. Would this sort of regression be best reported to the Proton github page, or should I just assume it'll get fixed up on a later iteration? Or maybe I'll just lock Borderlands 2 to 4.2-9 and call it good.
Never, ever assume a bug will just get fixed. Always report. This could be a d9vk regression.
Will do! thanks Liam!

Does it run better under Proton or something? Borderlands 2 is a native game.
Good question! The short answer is: I think it plays about the same under Linux, which is great, and which is how I'd rather be playing.

The long answer is: Aspyr Media---the company that ported B2 to Linux---hasn't made the time to update the port since the graphics improvements were made, over 8 months ago. I regularly play B'lands 2 with my brother-in-law, who is on Windows, and the non-updated Linux B'lands 2 can't play with the updated Windows B'lands 2. When the Fight for Sanctuary DLC was released I switched over to the Windows B'lands 2 port under Linux. :)

Quoting: tmtvlWow, Microsoft is being so good to Linux. Almost like they're... hugging us. A tender and loving embrace, I'm sure.

Creator of WebRTC now working on Google Stadia, Darksiders Genesis out plus more Stadia news

I'm a bit confused about the nature of Stadia. Is there more to it for Linux gamers than just using Linux at Google's end? If there isn't, it's fine with me---please don't think I'm trying to knock coverage of it here. I'm just feeling an excitement around Stadia here that I'm not feeling myself, so I figure I must have missed something along the way.

Epic Games have awarded the FOSS game manager Lutris with an Epic MegaGrant

Quoting: GuestSupporting Lutris/WINE means they have no plans for supporting or releasing for Linux.
That's what I'm thinking too. Moreover, I imagine that Epic is grooming Lutris to become an Epic games on Linux by proxy. I imagine $25k will go a long way to improving Lutris for a lot less than it would cost Epic to offer equal support for Linux in-house.

Although suspicious, Epic's support of Lutris is a thousand times more welcome than anything that they could have spent that money on in-house. Nothing they do can undo the way they gave gamers the finger by kidnapping titles from wider release and holding them hostage as "exclusives." Nothing short of immediately releasing their prisoners---and maybe super-gluing all of master Sweeny's orifices shut---will see them out from under the banner "Heinous Beasties."

Techland have updated Dying Light again, Drop Attack should be fixed on Linux

The big news to me is the news about DL2 possibly coming to Linux because I hadn't encountered that particular bug before. (It wouldn't have now, either, since I replaced the Linux version with the SteamPlay version because the OpenGL version ran at 20-30 fps and the SP version runs 3-4 times that. It's embarrassing.)
