An update on the status of Linux support for the sci-fi RPG 'Encased' now it's in Early Access

Wishlisted! You know, one of my favorite things about utterly ignoring every game announcing their Kickstarter campaign is that when they're successful its a bright, shiny surprise!

Now, please excuse me. I have to make an appointment to get this memory scrubbed, too, in case it doesn't actually come out for Linux when it's fully released. (But if it does---BAM! Bright and shiny all over again! XD

Testing the Gioteck WX-4 Wireless gamepad on Linux, pretty good for the price

I like that you're sharing something with Linux gamers that isn't open-source nor particularly well supported on Linux itself but might just be interesting to us as gamers. I'll be interested how it works for you. (Me? I'm so addicted to the Steam controller, all other, more traditional controllers feel like they're made of clay. Lol!)

I don't really understand the rest of it, but what I do know is that if Epic's for it, I'm aginnit. :P

Broken Lines will bring a story-driven tactical RPG in an alternative WW2 setting to Linux

Luminous and beautiful. Stunning, really.

If soldiers desert (because I will prove to be incompetent) can I shoot them as they leave? How about hunting them down and then killing them for desertion? I mean, I can't have word getting out about my incompetence now, can I?

Joking aside, it's wishlisted. I've wishlisted "Tales from the Void" as well. These devs have some truly original ideas!

Race through a dying world as a squirrel in the climbing platformer OSK, out now

Right out of the gate, I shy away from playing this game. Humans can slog through all sorts of post-apocalyptic grimness, decay, and fire and I cheerily think, "there's a game I want to play." But as soon as I see it's animals struggling through the end-times, I think, "Noooooo, poor animals!" Clearly, animals are innocents, but humans? 99% of the time they're the ones that created their post-apocalyptic hellscape in games.

Also, I have trouble with the whole idea of a squirrel having problems getting up or around in a tree at all since they can run up and down a trunk better than they can run along the ground. Its a game, of course, but it's a game whose premise seems more preposterous than Frogger.

Still, nice to see that they brought it to Linux! XD

Quoting: Liam Dawe
Quoting: NanobangI enjoyed this Sunday roundup article. Is it new? I don't remember seeing it before. Anyway, kudos.
We do it sometimes, this was a bit of a new format though, just trying something a lil different.
Well tally me in the "dug the new format" column. :)

ATOM RPG had another massive update recently adding in an Isometric mode
23 Sep 2019 at 12:28 pm UTC

I scratch my head over what an isometric view might bring to the game, what's the attraction? I'm not knocking it, but doesn't ATOM already have an aerial-view of things? (I own it, but haven't played it yet.)

My confusion about aesthetic decisions aside, the huge updates are one of the reasons I love ATOM. There's something heartening about the way the devs keep enriching their creation.

Valve have released two more experiments into Steam Labs

The Diving Bell tool was great in prototype, but rough. Now that it's been released in a polished form on Steam, I know I'll be using it.

I like the sound of the interactive recommendations as well. Proton has made it so that I don't even use ProtonDB when considering a game for wishlisting. I only go to ProtonDB when I'm about to actually purchase a non-Linux game.

If it doesn't work with SteamPlay, then I don't buy it---now. I do leave it on my wishlist though because I fully expect that sometime down the road it will be playable via Proton or Lutris or some yet-to-be-created tool available to Linuxian gamers.

A French court has ruled that Valve should allow people to re-sell their digital games
20 Sep 2019 at 12:26 pm UTC

Maybe someone else has mentioned this (I'm not going to read 14 pages of comments here to find out) but this I can easily imagine this sort of precedent extending to other digital media like books, music, and videos.
