It does look cute, though the name, Heart Chain Kitty, sounds disturbingly like cat-girl hentai.
Book of Demons no longer getting a native Linux port, developer plans on 'supporting' Steam Play (updated)

I can't help feeling that this is less a case of "Tsk, tsk, there goes a native port lost in favour of Steam Play" than a case of "Steam Play rescues a game for Linux that would have otherwise been abandoned by yet another Linux-benighted band of devs." Trying to support multiple distros of Linux when all they had to support was Ubuntu tells me that these guys brought their problems on themselves.
Off the top of my head, "extra work, not enough profit" seems like the most common reason promised ports go missing (the second most common reason would be no reason ever being given.) Since many, many devs manage to produce perfectly functional (if not functionally perfect) Linux ports of games, I refuse to accept whinging excuses of devs saying anything that doesn't sound like, "Golly, we got in a little over our heads with Linux."
I look forward to all the future games that will come to Linux, saved from well-intentioned-but-naive devs crying, "Linux is hard." And I'll take a Steam Play supported game over an abandoned Linux port any day. More and more, Steam Play will mean that weaker developers won't be able to abandon Linux gamers, Linux gamers will abandon them.

The Steam for Linux limited beta was six years ago tomorrow, where's the cake?

2012: Xbone or PS4? Xbone or PS4? Xbo---Hm? What's this? Steam? Linux? Hellz yeah!
2018: Still no broadcasting? Whatever. I have a Steam Controller and more Linux playable games in my Steam Library than I'll be able to play in decades of unemployment.
(And somewhere in the Alps, a penguin spins in a burgeoning field of edelweiss begins to sing, The games are alive with the sound of Liiinuuux ...)

Quoting: LakortaYes! Thanks for that. I've added it to my wishlist! :)Quoting: NanobangWeird. I couldn't remember this game being released, so I did a quick search at Steam, and nothing came up acually called "Silver." Silver Frame, Silver Tale, Silver Island, Silver Grapple, Silver Bullet: Prometheus, (and on the web: Silver Creek Falls (Chapters 1,2, & 3)), but no just Silver. Do you suppose it's a regional thing? This would be it's store page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/606680/Silver/ [External Link]
Does that link work for you?

Looking back, I think it would have been better, more accurate, had I written I'm no fan of "the" cloud in general because---like EULAs---it continues the trend of further eroding control of what otherwise would be one's personal property. The way I see it, FOSS and GPL types of licensing are much more in line with copyright than the paranoiac greed underlying the legalese of the ubiquitous EULA. And I'm not saying you do or don't agree (though I imagine you might) I'm just taking the opportunity to expand upon a topic near and dear to my heart.
Peace :)

Quoting: beniwtvYeah, I know, but I appreciate your taking the time to offer some guidance on the matter. :)Quoting: NanobangI'm no fan of "the" cloud in general as it continues the trend of further eroding control of what otherwise would be one's personal property.Just quickly want to chime in here: Games/software are not your personal property. You may own a physical medium the game/software is on though, which is your property. But you still need a license to use that copy.
So, games and software are licensed. Even FOSS software. Otherwise, you would own the right to them, which you do not.
I get what you wanted to say here, though. And I agree, when owning a physical copy without DRM probably nobody is gonna bother you in the future, to take it away or prevent you from playing it.

This is all good news. I've been holding off buying it until it's looking closer to release, but I'm really looking forward to this game!

Quoting: MerpDo you guys use the betas? Just wondering if it's worth switching from the stable version. From day one all I've used has been the Beta. On the one hand, I can't say it's better or worse than the Stable because I've never used the Stable. On the other hand, I've never had any real issues either. I figure if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. If I really want to play it I can try Wine or just wait.
Quoting: liamdaweFor corefonts, they're not using the actual MSFT fonts, instead they're using liberation-fontsThis is so cool!

I'm no fan of "the" cloud in general as it continues the trend of further eroding control of what otherwise would be one's personal property. Looking past that, in the case of "cloud gaming," while the selling point of people being able to play AAA games with mega-whammo graphics on "low end hardware" sounds nice on the surface, almost all of those games are available on the major consoles anyway. And what does all this mean to those folks who have crap broadband (like oh-so-many-folks in the U.S., for example?)
3D gaming, VR, IoT, and now "cloud gaming," all feel like whiz bang Here-Comes-the-Future-and-Ain't-it-Neato developments having less to do with actual technological advancements and more to do with some marketing director's quarterly bonus.
And long gone are the days where Google's involvement was a reason for me to get excited. If Google's doing it, they're just looking for more data. Besides, nowadays Google feels less like the Queen of innovation and more like the Burgomeister of false starts and dead-end dreams. And that cloud gaming's other big player is EA---voted how many times the Most Evil Company in America?---tells me all I need to know about this thing.
I'm not saying there's nothing worth reporting here, nor that it's impossible that "cloud gaming" won't be the next big thing. I'm just saying I'm not thrilled at the prospect of corporations looking to yet another method of insinuating themselves into my personal life. Hope Valve holds off a while longer.

For the life of me, I couldn't remember what this game was called for the longest time. Then, just a few days ago, I stumbled across it on Steam---Yay!---and put it on my wish list. I was hoping it would go on sale so I could risk it working on Steam Play, but now, with this news, I think I'll wait a little longer. (I'm too busy at the moment playing the Valheim demo on itch.io anyway. Say, anyone know how or when I can start mining in Valheim? Klugsbjorn, my Viking, wants IRON! XD)
