AMD announces Radeon RX 7600 XT, Ryzen 8000G series and new Ryzen 5000 series CPUs

Note that, despite how they are pre-tweaked, the x version can run just as cool with eco mode, and the non-x version just as fast&hot as the x edition via pbo.

Quoting: SoulprayerOne can either run'em fast&hot, which would be how the x versions arrive, or not-quite-so-fast and lots cooler, which is the out-of-the-box experience with the non-x versions.Quoting: TuxeeWell, the news is over a year old, maybe the latest models don't have this problemQuoting: SoulprayerHm, was pondering some days ago to buy new CPU, but the 7000 series is getting so hot, I'm always thinking about that gif where this dogs is sitting in fire and says "Its' fine"... I'd say that as well, when my PC is nearly at boiling point of water. What do you mean? My 7900 with a 65W TDP hardly ever surpasses 60° with a one minute all-core stress test. Perhaps you should add a cpu cooler?

Since Dungeon Keeper is this month's dosgameclub game, here's a gentle reminder that keeperfx works great with gog's dungeon keeper via wine/proton. Unfortunately, no native support (yet), so installation is still somewhat convoluted.
My preferred method of installing would be to use the innoextract utility to extract the data files to a temporary directory, run the keeperfx launcher a first time to get those files converted and moved to keeperfx's directory, copy over the .ogg files (in the temporary folder) to keeperfx's music directory.
Alternatively, one can install in heroic, run the keeperfx launcher once (via dk's settings in heroic) to get them data files, copy the .ogg music files, and change the default .exe for dk in heroic to keeperfx's executable.
Either way: note that some settings, like language and resolution, are only accessible through the launcher executable.

Heroic Games Launcher 2.11 released with custom library categories

Apart from the brute force method of disconnecting the pc from the internet, is there any option to disable library refresh on startup or offline mode?
I prefer my software to not unnecessarily connect to a store's servers. Furthermore, the refresh is a fairly annoying half a minute wait (around 270 games in gog library), since it is not being refreshed in the background.

Quoting: chickenb00I have to wonder what is going to happen when Microsoft gets off their asses and releases a controller-friendly version of Windows, basically something like SteamOS or even just BigPictureMode with quick access to all of the little toggles you normally need via a quick button combo. Suddenly ROG Ally will be much more competitive when you no longer have to dip back to the desktop and play with Control Panel to get things working. My guess is that there'll be a well-adapted steamos/chimeraos/whatever-community-distro for deck-alikes before that happens.
SteamOS 3.5.5 rolls out to all Steam Deck owners, plus new Steam Client update

Am I missing something obvious or is the family view switch really not present in steam's small mode (any version)?
I noticed, because I had to turn off the family view, hence switch to large mode first, before being allowed to check for updates (however this latest client version can check for updates when in family view fine).

Steam Deck OLED is just pure joy - the definitive Steam Deck

Quoting: SalvatosShouldn't it look sharper, with it having the smaller viewable area?Quoting: 1xokThe colors on the OLED always seem oversaturated to me.I was wondering about that too. The LCD unit just seems sharper and cleaner to me, versus the red blur bleeding through everything on the OLED unit. Tough to judge image quality through a picture, but sharpness is sharpness, and the OLED screen just seems to lose a lot of detail and its gradients are way less subtle.

For now, my preferred method for adding KeeperFX to the heroic games launcher is:
1. Use the innoextract utility to unpack the gog dungeon keeper install file into a temporary folder.
2. extract the keeperfx file into a directory into my games directory, sideload (with the add game option) keeperfx.exe into heroic with the -nocd launch option.
3. in heroic, in keeperfx's settings, run the launcher.exe file from keeperfx's directory. Point it to the unpacked files from step 1. You may also change keeperfx's settings such as game resolution and language here.
4. Copy the ogg files from the folder from step 1 to keeperfx's music directory (don't forget this if you want music!).
5. delete the temporary folder from step 1, keep the keeperfx folder untouched.
6. add thumbnail of choice. I did some creative cropping from the banner on keeperfx's homepage.
7. sacrifice a chicken each time the game is launched.
From what I gather, the devs are also working on the launcher directly obtaining game data from the gog install file. So this should soon become less involved.
Alternatively, the relatively quick&easy method would be to install dungeon keeper directly in the launcher, extract keeperfx's files into the installation directory, run the keeperfx's launcher file (via dungeon keeper's settings in heroic) to copy over the data, manually copy the ogg files to keeperFX's music folder, and set keeperfx.exe to run by default, with the -nocd option, in dungeon keeper's settings (in heroic).
Either way, keeperFX is running like a dream for me with the latest heroic-provided version of proton-ge.

Heroic Games Launcher 2.10.0 released with plenty of essential fixes

It's also not the only ui element I've tweaked.
Discord? No need for it.
Patreon and ko-fi? Noted heroic for my yearly round of open source donations, don't need permanently visible links to those in my launcher either, thankyouverymuch.
Little store icons spammed all over this beautiful launcher? Who the hedgefund thought that was a good idea? They can go as well.
And so on. It was done in a few minutes, and I get to feel all smug and happy about the benefits of using an open source launcher when seeing the cleaner version. A much better mindset to start a game with than being annoyed at the little bugbear store menu item.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPYes it does. It's there radiating psychological pressure to click it ~_^Quoting: emphyHuge fan of heroic. You can install games you own in your library in Heroic, no need to go to the store page for that.
Absolutely hated that it contains a store page, though. I vehemently dislike that one often has to install a shop on one's system just to be able to install a game one has already paid for.
You can remove the store button to the left, of course, but... does that really make a difference compared to just not clicking on it?
