Quoting: pbSo much for free updates, welcome a swarm of dlc.
That wouldn't be a bad thing. If you're happy with the value you got from the game's purchase, fine, just ignore the DLC. If you loved the game and would welcome more features and expansion, this is great news.

Unless you wanted all those extras for free...? In which case, I have no words! :)
Up to now, all updates to the PC version of PA have had those extras for free. Introversion's way of supporting games after release is fundamentally different from that of paradox. Crudely stated: Introversion has provided extra value for money, whilst paradox is always trying to sell you more stuff.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night for Linux has been officially cancelled

Quoting: skryAsked for full refund. Here's how they replied:

Hey there xxxx,

Unfortunately ArtPlay and 505 Games are not offering refunds, so we are only able to change your platform. You can provide further feedback to the team directly by posting on the Official Bloodstained Forum or the Bloodstained Discord server. We’re sorry for the trouble; please let us know if you have any other questions.
Bunch of scammers.

Edit:

Not offering refunds? Well, they sure are not offering me what I was promised and what I payed for. I don't want to give feedback to team via forums or discord, I want either what was promised, or my money back.
Hey xxxx,

If you have further inquiries the best course of action is to talk to Artplay and 505 Games directly through their forums or Discord server. We unfortunately cannot provide the any further assistance from here unless you need us to change the choice of platform.
They clearly have no intention to refund people their money. Smart move to outsource customer "service" to some random company, and make them forward people to forums or other mediums where they can be silently ignored or moderated. This whole thing is starting to look shady af if you think about it. There's like three or four companies all supposedly doing something with the project, yet in three(?) years they've managed to come up with disappointing and unimpressive tech demo (they call it beta) with the millions they got. Nothing else. Sure there was curse of the moon but it was done by Inti (who are more or less known to deliver). I thought it was nice that WayForward joined the crew to fix bugs and polish things up, but maybe they are actually there to deliver something playable (fixing the whole mess?) so that people would not come after everyone with torches and pitchforks.

I've had enough of this crowd funding bs.
At the moment it's down due to the government shutdown, but if you live in the US I encourage you to file a complaint at the ftc:

There's probably similar agencies in other countries.

Normally I am quite forgiving in these sorts of cases. As they say, shit happens.

However, this is a big project that has also had funding from other sources and is likely to profit well after release. There's enough high quality porting services available which should be well within budget to have only a small impact on profit margins (or even easily break even on fulfilling the pledge).

The second major problem is with the lack of a refund option. Shit may well happen, but one should not leave ones mess lying around. This project did handle their (imo, much more understandable) wiiu version cancellation properly. There's absolutely no excuse for not just copy-pasta-ing the message they used for that case, with the proper modifications.

Obsidian Entertainment and inXile Entertainment have officially joined Microsoft

Quoting: GuestThis is a strange move, these companies predominantly make PC games that simply wouldn't work as well on console, they can't be buying them to make xbox exclusives, asking them to make xbox exclusives would be like asking a man to dance on one leg. These companies also only make games that wouldn't benefit at all from using apis like dx12 or vulkan, they're just not that graphically intense.

I'm not seeing their plan here, I'm not seeing a lot of their plans these days and it makes me a little nervous.
It looks to me like they are going for the "throw stuff on the wall to see what sticks" method: buy lots of studios in the hopes a few of them will produce console sellers. For that, it doesn't really matter that these companies' current games don't really fit consoles; the same could be said for fpses (control scheme) back when Microsoft acquired Bungie, after all.

I expect some major pruning in a few years, with most of these acquisitions getting axed, leaving the few success stories in place as producers of console exclusives.

Quoting: Maweki I think we have the culprit. The Facebook page states an Xbox-Release. So additional Microsoft money is quite a possibility.
The culprit is still the dev and not M$. - They only offered a deal, it's the dev who took it.
Wait a second. This is hypothetical! Let's not produce fake news here.
There's enough games released on both xbox and linux that this theory can be safely relegated to the list of fairy tales.

The dev deciding to spend their resources on xbox development instead of linux, on the other hand...

Very interested; not only the aesthetics and the mechanics, but also that is a "small" jrpg (less than 10 hours, if I understand correctly). I just can't finish the "normal"-sized ones...

This game has been an absolute delight to play even without all the added stuff. I love devs who, when they meet success, give back royally to their community.

Could you please stop being so negative on EVERY VCS article ?
We understand your point of view, but all this negativity and this sarcasm are a bit boring...
I'll stop when atari's own updates stop being bollocks...

Just kidding ^_^, it's just that I see a train wreck coming and I'm annoyed that it's going to damage the credibility of linux gaming with yet another failed linux console project. I'll tone down.

Quoting: PhlebiacTo be fair, there can be numerous iterations of prototypes before the final product; for example, the Steam Controller:
https://www.wired.com/2013/11/valve-steam-controller/ [External Link]
None of those are such a technical downgrade as shown by this atari team; they went down from a claimed functioning prototype to an amd provided dev board, which is not a prototype at all.

This would not have been a problem, except that they should have selected the concept stage and that they know fully well that they'll not be able to get the thing into production in the first quarter of 2019.
