In a video game we should be able to choose the gender, race, type of creature , hair color ... we want. I do not understand this decision. This game still works as poorly in Linux?

ScummVM adds support for Myst in their daily builds

You can play Riven too on Linux with ScummVM.
Support for Riven is not yet official, you have to compile ScummVM yourself to activate it:

git clone git://github.com/scummvm/scummvm.git
cd scummvm
./configure --enable-all-engines
make

Then launch ScummVM and add Riven game: point to Riven directory.
Now you can play Riven on Linux.
