SNOW, a CryEngine powered open-world winter sports game now on Linux & SteamOS

This is but one of a multitude of reasons of why I don't play early access games.

Ars slams SteamOS over issues with a single machine and a 4K monitor

This doesn't surprise me one bit. This is the latest in a string of articles from Ars centered around gaming where it was readily apparent the person writing said article was woefully underqualified/underinformed and they've been dipping into click-bait territory with their article titles.

Looks like Vendetta - Curse of Raven's Cry was removed from Steam, oh my

I played this game through in full and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Now, I'm not saying it's a good game, it's not, and the practice of releasing the "fixed" game months later as a new game, compounded by the alleged paid reviews, is shady as **** and inexcusable. Regardless, I had a lot of fun with the game. Once in a while a game comes along that I can objectively see as being a bad game and yet enjoy playing it. This is one of those games. I guess I just really enjoyed the naval battles and playing a pirate that's like a real pirate, a straight up ***hole murderer, and not the bogus romanticized pirates we usually get, and that was enough to get me to look past the clunky as **** on-foot combat, crappy production value, fanfic level dialogue, and myriad of hilarious bugs.

Master of Orion officially confirmed for Linux & SteamOS by Wargaming

Glad to hear Linux is being supported. I'm going to be very cautious about this title, though, after the bitter pill that was MoO3.

Homefront: The Revolution gamespot video looks good, but it will feature microtransactions
27 Jan 2016 at 11:54 am UTC

The game looks and sounds great, though the idea of microtransactions in a full priced title doesn't sit well with me. Let's hope they stick to their word of it not being pay to win, but whenever I see microtransactions in a full priced game I always fear that they balance the game around the idea of people spending money, purposely tuning the drop rate of certain items down to make the game excessively grindy to get the items you want so as to encourage people to spend real money. Only time will tell, I guess. On the brighter side, the year of free DLC is quite welcome, even if the DLCs wind up being rather minor.

Torment: Tides of Numenera launches in Early Access without Linux support, coming much later

As someone who gives zero ****s about early access, this doesn't bother me at all, so long as we get day 1 Linux support for the final release. I do understand how it might bother other people who want to beta test this, though.

Talos Principle & Serious Sam 3 getting Vulkan updates, Serious Sam 4 will be on a much improved engine
26 Jan 2016 at 12:57 pm UTC

SS3 and the Talos games already ran like a champ for me, so this update does little for me. Still, it's great to hear and hopefully goes some way toward improving performance for those who had performance issues.

Escape from Tarkov, the new Russian Survival MMO FPS looks like it's heading to Linux
25 Jan 2016 at 3:32 pm UTC

Quoting: BeamboomIf it can be played offline, how can it then possibly be a mmo? Unless that term has been redefined lately?
The developers themselves never call it an outright MMO, they state that it has "MMO features".

That is a welcome surprise.

Escape from Tarkov, the new Russian Survival MMO FPS looks like it's heading to Linux

Quoting: GuestThe part that concerns me:

Escape from Tarkov is the hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and story-driven walkthrough.
MMO could mean an always online requirement just to play a single-player game.
I kinda don't think it's a single-player game. It would be cool if it had an offline SP mode, but the feeling I'm getting is that this is like a DayZ or H1Z1 type multiplayer survival game, but with an added element of PvE and story, rather than just a sandbox to gank people in.
