Ubuntu 26.04 ('Resolute Raccoon') LTS is out now

Don't worry about Wayland, it's not that bad. I had to install Ubuntu 25.04 this summer when my system broke cause I switched from Nvidia to AMD graphic card. The only things I miss from X11 is stuff like alt+F2 or ctrl+alt+backspace, now if the desktop environment freezes and doesn't respond, the only thing you can do is press reset button. Not that it happens often, but it's still a pain in the butt when it happens.

I'm pretty much on a barebones system since the summer, so I'm looking forward to clean installation of LTS. Probably next weekend, as Friday is a holiday. This gives Canonical an extra week to find possible bugs in the new release. I remember the old times when it was a good idea to give them at least a month, we've come a long way.

Former Humble Bundle staff launch new bundle site Digiphile to "benefit users, creators, publishers, and charity"

It's another take on game bundles, something we really used to love long time ago.

We would get a bunch of games at low price, but of course, you wouldn't want to play every game in the bundle. So people started trading unneeded keys between them and resale key sites popped up. This made developers less interested in bundling games, as it would eat into their sales.

So, we need to square that circle, how do we get cheap games and the developers still get paid. Digiphile's idea is to not give you the Steam keys, so you can't trade/sell them. But if you already own the game on Steam, you can trade it into credits which you can exchange for games from previous bundles.

Talking point - what have you been playing lately?

I struggle to find some game to truly grab me. I recently finished Detroit: Become Human which was awesome, but I don't have something to follow it up with. Civilization 6 is good, but it is rare to get a good starting setup to keep it interesting, often you win or lose by the turn 50, plus it gobbles us unholy amounts of time. I found Control boring, I'm going to try Talos Principle next.

I was just wondering what happened to this game and now I now. I wanted to play it when it came out, but it wouldn't work with Proton back then, so I never got to try it.

Pick up some goodies from Remedy like Alan Wake and Control in this Humble Bundle

I could trade for the good old Control if someone wants to part with it.

NVIDIA 570.153.02 driver released for Linux with a couple fixes

I'm much more concerned when will they finally release drivers with support for GeForce 5060 Ti. Currently, we only got beta 575 drivers with support for these cards and you can sparsely find them packaged for most popular distros. Price of these cards is starting to drop and they should prove to be quite popular.

Quoting: Bogomips
Quoting: morbiusI tried to play again, this time with Vulkan renderer. Well, it compiled the shaders for only about an hour, then the game started. After about 15 minutes in the hero practice session, the game crashed. I started it again and again it tried to compile shaders, but I skipped that. The game started and then again crashed in hero practice mode.

This thing is not stable, as least on my Ubuntu. Rebinding ability keys to my mouse buttons didn't seem to work. I did however like the feel and the movement of the game, perhaps I will like it one day, when a better client comes out.
Have you tried to check this https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/08/deadlock-from-valve-may-need-this-quick-fix-on-linux/
No, this used to be a problem on older Ubuntu versions, 24.04 has max_map_count set high.

I installed the game and tried to play, but after it was compiling shaders for whole two hours and still didn't finish, I gave up.
