Sumoman, the hilarious UNIGINE-powered puzzle platformer with physics is now out on Linux

It's good that they are updating it, but it doesn't really fix the problem at all.

We didn't change anything with system or else. It is just gameplay bugs fixing.
I agree that it "shows good faith", but from my perspective, they've released something that is alpha quality or worse (at least on my system). Also, it's a reasonably expensive game… and my two week refund window is rapidly approaching.

Quoting: saildataSorry things didn't work out on your end. I looked over your log next to mine and they were pretty much the same.
No worries. Thanks for your help anyway.

Thanks for the offer. I've put the error log up here [External Link]. To be honest, I've spent over an hour troubleshooting something that I've spent money on, so I'll likely give up soon. Please don't spend too much time helping me! I'll let you know what I tried though.

I've tried the following:
* launching vanilla steam, and using `primusrun %command%`
* launching `primusrun steam`, and running the vanilla game command.
* launching either option above with `LD_PRELOAD='/usr/$LIB/libasound.so.2 /usr/$LIB/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/$LIB/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libxcb.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libgpg-error.so'` first (I think I got this from the Arch wiki.

Neither of the four permutations work.

I tried copying libUnigine_x64.so to the x64 directory as you recommended… but this meant that the game wouldn't even get to the *first* screen now!

I checked `ldd libUnigine_x64.so` in the original directory, and all the files exist.

I looked at /tmp/dumps/*.txt and it only had similar information to the sumoman log above.

Thanks for the tips @saildata. Unfortunately I still can't get it working. I disabled the Steam overlay, and I wasn't using a Steam controller anyway. I even set it on minimum resolution with no AA, just in case. Looks like this one is heading towards the refund bucket.

@saildata Sorry, I have no idea what you are talking about!

Quoting: saildataFor sure. I haven't gone through my normal pre-flight checklist :) e.g. checking the launcher script.. making sure all the libraries are linked.. but I'll get something out there within the hour so they have a better idea.

I'm also on Arch and agree; not a chance I'm downgrading the system because the game should have spent longer in beta.

That's like the gas station telling me to sell my car for one with lower fuel requirements if i say my car runs like crap using their premium blend.. :|
Thank you for doing that.

Yeah, I definitely agree with you, but I did give it a shot, just to see if I could isolate the problem. However, it wasn't a previously-packaged version in Arch, and changing the pkgver didn't work, so…

Quoting: saildataI actually have it ready to go tonight as well.
Nice one! I did send them the log, but I don't think it was helpful (as per that thread). They suggested downgrading my Nvidia drivers, but that's not easy in Arch. Perhaps you could comment over in the Steam thread [External Link], so they know if affects more people? Cheers.

I'm using KDE Plasma. There is nothing in the terminal when it freezes, although the dev just replied in the thread linked above. There's a log file at `~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Sumoman/bin/game_log.html` that might be relevant. I'll run it again tonight and see what happens.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Still confused as to how the a charity that distributes food for failed countries that cannot or will not support its people imperialist but hey to each his own. (in case you're wondering Imperial countries do the opposite of that)
I was going to keep out of this thread, because I think some charities are definitely worthwhile. (And it's getting a little OT.) However, this statement is very wrong. There are many different ways that charities can perpetuate imperialism. The most obvious ways are those that give goods in exchange for something, e.g. oil, deals, Christianity. The other way is what you imply… by the direct donation of goods. Many "charities" rely on over-production of local goods to flood the market. For example, a company (or government) might have a glut of wheat, T-shirts, etc. for whatever reason. These are then "donated" to developing nations. It's a tax write-off for the company. And the receiving country gets a glut of goods that floods their market, driving down prices of locally-produced goods, and killing the local industry. The developing country is then reliant on donations for the future… making it a subject of the "charity".

OTOH "good" charities (e.g. Oxfam) often have an exit strategy. They have an aim to set up sustainable industries in the country. Similarly, as citizens, it's often best to donate cash rather than tin cans, clothes, etc.
