very good read :) I also think valve should make steamos exclusives albeit only temporarily
(with an excuse like: HL3 is not yet ready for windows and needs optimizations ).

SteamOS beta update brings in a new Nvidia driver with Vulkan support

I use Timeshift, saved my ass some dozen times. Very fast and easy full system backup, I used lately to test if 355.00.26 works with 650M, and no it didn't.

So if nvidia-355 doesnt work with nvidia-prime? i suggest you try bumblebee [External Link] (if you haven't already). nvidia-340/346 also did crash for me and bumblebee saved the day. Also you may try to run with "optirun" in order to use the x server of the nvidia card and then it should work!!!

Cheers!

Vulkan 1.0 specification and SDK have been released

AFAIK optimus will not work (it is OpenGL only) -- NVIDIA is getting closer to "normal" optimus support (after 10 years ...), they are now implementing semaphores into the intel driver which is required to enable the support. However, maybe nouveau can also manage to support Vulkan soon ?
With PRIME/nouveau it *should* be possible
bumblebee(primusrun) uses LD_LIBRARY_PATH and only loads different OPENGL drivers (ikr because i use it), but what happens if i have Nvidia Vulkan drivers? (or if i have both intel + nvidia), so if i "optirun" the game will it work? And also website only lists desktop GPUs!

EDIT:
It will work according to this:

Does the nvidia driver support notebook gpus? (i have a GT 650M [kepler])
If so, does anyone know if it works with PRIME/bumblebee somehow? Has anyone tried it?!

anyone tried it on low-end laptop GPUs like GT 650M, also which exact card model is the minimum requirement, which you tested, eddieduck?

EDIT: yes i know liam didn't get very high framerates on gtx 560 Ti, but still is there a chance:

There's A Possibility Of Just Cause 3 Coming To SteamOS/Linux

This is usually not my thing. The game looks good though.

Square Enix doesn't have a lot of Linux support, they appear to have something to do with Wakfu, but are not listed on the Steam store page. I think Avalanche Studios has no Linux supported games yet. So I'm not getting my hopes up.
Yes but Mad max [External Link] which is officially confirmed for linux is also developed by Avalanche Studios, though the difference there is the publisher, so there is still a chance!
