Aspyr Media are reminding Linux gamers not to give up hope on Civilization VI

I think it's all just social media marketing. Aspyr is learning from Feral it seems. Of course CivVI will come to linux.

Mad Max released for Linux, port report and review available
24 Oct 2016 at 10:13 am UTC

Haven't read the whole thread but just want to state that I've got a similar audio bug:

After I've finished the "build a sniper rifle" mission sound-fx stopped working. No motor sound and such.

It's exactly the same bug that happens with the wine-version of Flatout 2; so the ride-a-crash-car-in-the-wastelands-with-a magically-silent-motor-feeling came back from the good old days. Sometimes It's just that on the other day it's random noise when starting the game - pretty much like Liam experienced it.

Quoting: GuestThe thing is, Valve can’t hold onto the money forever after you buy a game; publishers would like to see some of it sooner rather than later ;)
Good point. That explains some things.

Quoting: GuestSo yes they determine on which platform you play, but it’s only during the first one or two (?) weeks after it was bought.
Then feral better hurry up with the port to get my share of the 10€ I paid ^^

But jokes aside... I really think if people like me are a problem for porters then they would find a way to stop me from pre-buying games for cheap. For example they could just not announce a port in advance or just max. one or two weeks before release.

However it's their business and I buy games for playing, not for charity.

Quoting: ungutknutNice! Bought it a few days ago when it was -75% on steam - speculating that it'll be released on linux.
Except, now it counts as a Windows sale, and Feral get none of the money for it.
I don't care. Wouldn't have bought it anyway if it wasn't that cheap.
Enjoy the game, we've had a blast making it for Linux!

Hopefully next time you'll be able to buy a Tux version and help fund more games coming to Linux :)
Thanks. I guess next time will be when you people release dirt rally - perhaps even for the full price because I'm r(e)ally waiting for this game (sorry for the ridiculous pun).

Quoting: liamdaweAnd it's people like you that help to reduce our already small sale count for developers. Nice one, not.
I deeply apologize for my lack of idealism.

Quoting: MaCroX95Not everyone is always in a good financial situation and if he found a deal why not buy it if he didn't intend to otherwise... Yes, it's really nice to support porting teams and companies but don't judge him if he rushed to buy it before Feral finished porting it :) There are a lot of us who will still support great guys from Feral!
Quoting: dubigrasuThere are countries were the game price is ten times higher (relative to the income). How much is Mad Max, 30 Euro? Would you still buy it at 300 Euros to support Feral/Linux?
Edit: to be more clear, when you're dealing with such high prices, sometimes you can't resist a good deal.
Thanks for defending my point - Just to make that clear: I'm well aware that I don't support linux gaming with buying games for almost no money that eventually possibly even count as a windows sale. I just think that I'm not supposed to pay extra money just because steam hasn't been able to implement a proper way to determine how many people play which games on which OS.

And of course I could just wait for the game to release and wait for the port and afterwards wait another year for the next sale that puts the game to my price-tag. I'm actually a patient man... but obviously not patient enough for being a "real" linux gamer. Sorry for that.

This is also my first feral-ported game I bought - finally they port a game that's at least not entirely out of interest for me.

BTW: Do they have some kind of port-it-all deal with warner studios? It seems to me that 90% of the feral games is published by warner... which is kind of sad because I tend to dislike their games.

The Long Dark gets a massive update, which fixes a critical Linux audio bug
26 Sep 2016 at 3:55 pm UTC

Quoting: EhvisSo this weekend I was exploring the dam. I stepped outside, but soon after a blizzard started and ran to get back inside. No go, one way door. Look for a relatively sheltered space, made a fire and decided to sleep. Huh, no bedroll? A damn, forgot to pick that up inside. No I have to wait with pass time for the blizzard to go. Six hours later, it was gone, but I was exhausted. Which forced me to drop half my gear in order to at least move slowly. Went down, crossed the ice to go back to the entrance. Around the last corner I stand face to face with a wolf. I tried to run, but in my exhausted state I couldn't do anything to fight him off. Died from blood loss.

I love this game! :D
Haha... had almost the same experience. And I'm not even mad... just that one-way door is kind of stupid. I hope it's just a bug.

Interview with Timothee Besset, formerly of id Software, who helped port Rocket League to Linux

Thx for the interview. That's the kind of articles I'd like to see more often on GOL.

Speculation: It's looking like Rocket League may finally arrive on Linux in September

Quoting: HoriI don't really understand why playing the game soon after release is better than playing it later... I mean, it's still the same game! Actually it's not the same, it's more than that, because it got many updates and they are still improving it.
There's also a lot of people playing it so it's not like you're gonna have trouble finding matches to play.
But you're gonna have huge troubles if you'd like to choose the people you want to play with from your reallife friends. If - and only if they're still into it (which is not very likely after such a long time), they'll be godmasters and matching against them won't make sense anymore.

For people that won't mind playing with strangers it shouldn't matter, as long as no none-linux-successor of the game is released.

Concerning the updates: I wouldn't expect any support at all from dev's that have the linux version on the very very bottom of their priority list. I've seen terrible supported linux AAA releases too often to still be optimistic about that.
