Steam Client Update released with Remote Play improvements

What I find irritating sometimes is that I'm so used to Linux pretty much supporting just about every file system under the sun (sadly not PFS3 or SFS from the Amiga world, even though PFS3 is open source), and yet macOS barely supports it's own file system... by this I mean it's semi-case sensitive by default (meaning you can name files upper/lower case, but they're the same file if you mix/mash, so rsync can get really confused...) and to switch it to case sensitive, you have to format...

I was wondering if we could look up how many people went and ruined their Deck by installing Windows on it...

Quoting: fenglengshunI did my part this month- I actually got my first Steam Survey prompt since going to Linux this Monday.

Not that I moved much of a needle, since I was using newer distro (Garuda Linux). Though I'm tempted to try Nobara (AUR is just so convenient tho).
ha, I got my Steam Survey yesterday... on my macbook... kind of silly to see all the things are unsupported on the M1. And that it is stuck on OpenGL 4.1

While I do have a little mini dock that I bought for use with my macbook that should work fine for the Deck, instead I use my ThinkVision monitor's 10g USB-C connection directly to it, and have keyboard / mouse connected through it's built in 'kvm' switch.

Works like a charm! Though I agree with the whole 'KDE is kind of not great in realizing you have a big screen connected.'

How the hell is that a thing?

I dunno, i tried several ones without any success. Playing that kind of game with kb is a no way for me.
For sure, keyboard on a platformer is trash. Typically an xbox 360 controller is the 'default' for most games.

Quoting: dude16:10 aspect ratio update.. smart move! I'll have to start over.
Only problem with my screen, very little love for 32:10. Then again it's rather a cheat for platform games.
Quoting: haikustill unable to play with a controller

Quoting: ShadMessado people really still use FAT32 .....
Definitely, it's the best choice for external HDD that is being used by both Linux and Windows machines.
Why not use ntfs?
When you own a Linux, Mac and Windows machines, plus various old computers with USB ports running outdated operating systems like OS/2... Fat32 is still the most universally supported filesystem next to FAT16/FAT12 (which of course has a lot more limitations in partition sizes etc.)

NTFS is only really useful between Windows and Linux, and is kind of a shit filesystem :P

An interview with Ken VanDine, Ubuntu desktop lead at Canonical

Quoting: scaineAlso back then, remember, Canonical were pushing the idea of a converged mobile & desktop experience. The "Edge" phone was coming, powered by Unity. Incredible vision, when you realise this was twelve years ago. I remember being blown away by the possibility of using my phone as a dashboard screen on my desktop, and resizing, mobile-aware apps - something we take a little more for granted these days, but absolutely mind-blowing at the time.
For the record, I did put Ubuntu Touch on my JingPad A1, as JingOS seems to be dead. But it for sure runs worse than JingOS did, but at least still has a future. Granted I think the speed issue is more about not having fully open hardware, so it's missing some acceleration bits. Otherwise it's a fairly decent set up. I still haven't tested the stylus, or played around with it much. Closest we still have to convergence now would be something like the Steam Deck.

I actually still have my Ubuntu 4.10 cds laying around my house. You know from back when you could just go to their site and say 'send me CDs!' and they'd ship them out because they believed in getting as many people to try it out as possible. I miss those days, they seemed a lot better then.
