Edit: actually it was 3 days ago when I updated a motherboard's bios as the original didn't support hard drives larger than 32gb...

Quoting: Free_gamerapparently they also started to distribute firmware updates via fwupd (at least gnome-software told me that an update for the firmware is available, but I always update directly from the UEFI via internet).I have found Logitech and Lenovo do as well. It is weird to see firmware update support for Linux, being that I still remember the days when you had to have a DOS disk laying around to update things...

I ended up ordering some 10 ft USB-C to HDMI cables...

Quoting: soulsourceYeah, 'some' form of function. Hmm, isn't there such a thing as wireless hdmi? :P I mean if we could get a latency free miracast...Quoting: slaapliedjeNot in Game Mode - at least not yet. That simply disables the built-in screen as soon as an external display is connected. In Desktop Mode it might work, but I haven't tried it, because the cable on my USB-C hub is way too short to allow picking up the deck.Quoting: soulsourceI haven't tried this yet... but can't you hook it to a TV and use the large screen for the game, and still use the built in controls? What would be killer is for games to have a mini screen so you could have the Deck's screen be a map, and the rest of the game display on the TV/Monitor. Like Fallout 4 could have the map on a Tablet/phone.Quoting: slaapliedjeNice! Though why would you use the DualShock 4 with the Steam Deck? While it's docked and connected to the TV.
Edit: I'm really hoping that Valve adds some display options for Game Mode. Right now it's a bit annoying, because I use the same USB-C hub for charging and TV display, so whenever I charge the deck, the built-in screen goes blank. It would be nice to have it active, to check up on charging or download progress.

Quoting: GuestValve described the Deck as "being console level, no tinkering and perfect performance (30-60 fps)"; they've once again overpromised and underdelivered.Well it depends on what you want to interpret this as. If you follow what they mark as Verified, then it IS console like and you don't have to tinker. If you choose wven to filter with playable as well, there are notes on what you need to do. This game is still marked 'unsupported' this post is simply saying it seems to be working now, but even says it requires the beta branch!
What happened to "no tinkering"? 👀
As much as I enjoy gaming on the Deck, we're very much alpha testers (case in point, the updates and fixes for said updates last week that borked many Decks).

V Rising now works on Linux and Steam Deck with Proton Experimental Beta

I tried briefly this morning to get V Rising to launch, but it does the same as it did before I changed to Proton GE and copied over the stun_steamnetworking.dll file like protondb suggested. I did a verify files, so it likely replaced that and should have changed it to default.
Wonder if I need to change it to the 'beta' build of SteamOS?
Edit: use DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% in the launcher settings? Mine looked like it was trying to run the videos, but had that weird alternating lines of yellow over them.
Once again, we find ourselves with an incompatible video codec for some reason...

Quoting: Liam DaweDude, seriously. I could have the driest hands in the world, and I still leave greasy marks on my Deck. Maybe I should stop handling it without gloves.Quoting: stylonWhat's with the gloves in the video? So I don't cover the deck in greasy fingerprints and skin for a video ;)

I was trying to get emulation working last night. Managed to get the D&D:Heroes working almost okay... quite choppy on xemu. Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for the PS2 runs flawlessly, in fact I think better than on real hardware. But Champions of Norrath still can't smoothly play the intro. And is terribly slow all around.

Quoting: soulsourceBy the way, I received my Steam Deck yesterday, and Pathfinder: Kingmaker is working pretty well on it.Nice! Though why would you use the DualShock 4 with the Steam Deck?
(I had to disable Steam Input for my DualShock 4 though, otherwise the game would show Xbox button guides.)

It's kind of shit. I've said in the past at some point that a computer that isn't connected to the internet is practically useless these days. But now it's gotten so bad that a computer connected to the internet is likely compromised in some way... Granted with how computers are, generally speaking the weakest link is the human at the keyboard. Guess this is why I kind of like old platforms like the Atari 8bit computers, and then slapping a FujiNet on them for internet access. Can someone hack it? Sure! But who is going to target such a thing? Also, they have a Mastadon client now.

Quoting: whizseha, Private Keylogger...Quoting: 14Stolen private keys... So, if they were password protected, that would buy you time to make a new private key and revoke the old ones.Unless, keylogger on the system?
