I mean with this new trend to remaster games, Bethesda / Zenimax / Microsoft should do this one!
Though they would probably censor the nudity ha.

Quoting: GuestYeah, i liked Daggerfall too. I was a bit frustrated because as far as i know learning languages had no influence on the gameplay and you couldn't do much in the Dibella temples. You could also buy one and only one house. You had to sell your house if you wanted to buy another one.Daggerfall is a game that you can tell they ocerscoped it and it wasn't finished. So much potential for one of the most epic games, but it was bogged down with bugs and incomplete features. It really should be open sourced so it could be remade with a modern engine. Though there is the Unity engine remake which is amazing.
But like Arena, it worked on my puny DX2-66.
Arena had a classic XP and levels system but the devs did not like it and introduced the notion of progressing by using skills in Daggerfall.

Quoting: Liam DaweI miss desktop computers in general. The beige boxes went away too, but now everyone has such a thing for RGB lighting... it's distracting and pointless... I specifically bought a case with no window so I wouldn't have to see my graphics card and motherboard light up. There's a certain appeal to having a wedge style case. Though anything built as a PC isn't exactly meant to be in such a thing, as they're cramped to work in. Look how they removed the option of an optical drive to mount the HD there instead.Quoting: NanobangThis is a fake antique. This is the equivalent of one of those phones that look like a rotary phone, but have buttons instead of holes in a dial, and have modern electronics inside.Doesn't mean it's not cool and that people won't buy it though. Personally, I genuinely like the style of a lot of older things but I like how far things have come. Merging old styles with the new is a good thing for some. A lot of "modern" styling is junk.

Like one day in the office (back when that was still a thing) we were talking about Nintendo games, and out of the blue, Nintendo searches were popping up on my ebay account, and I never look for Nintendo stuff on there (at least I hadn't at the time). It was creepy to say the least.

Quoting: mao_dze_dunI just can't get into the habit of talking to my phone. I turn all that crap off, too often have I been having a conversation about something random, and then having it show up in searches on apps...Quoting: slaapliedjeYeah I want a phone that's all cli.Pretty sure voice dial will always win :)
How faster would it be to be able to type 'call john_doe' instead of having to click contacts, scroll through a huge list, hopefully click on the right one and then press the call button?
sms john_doe "hey bro, what's up?"
or
echo "hey bro, what's up?" | sms john_doe

Quoting: TheSHEEEPTwo things off the top if my head, skill progression, and ammo no longer weighed anything.Quoting: slaapliedjeMy first Elder Scrolls game was Daggerfall. It still seems to be the 'best, and most ambitious' of the games. It expanded on what was in Arena, and made the land huge. Then came Morrowind, which is a fantastic game, but tiny in comparison to Daggerfall... Then Oblivion, they dumbed down and Skyrim they dumbed down further. All of the little side games that came out for it were even more basic. Wonder what MS will do with the series now that they own Zenimax...I generally agree, but I wonder what you think they dumbed down from Oblivion to Skyrim.
Honestly, I think Skyrim is better than Oblivion in every regard and I don't see any further dumbing down between those two games, just a fixing of tons of mistakes from Oblivion.
A Morrowind-quality (and gameplay depth) game at the size of Skyrim is something I'd really love to play. Not that it will ever happen, of course.
AA/AAA devs nowadays are simply too afraid of doing open gameplay RPG systems that allow players to potentially break their "balance" and demand some time & thought investment.

Quoting: randylThere was a VIC-20 in the science room when I was in 8th or 9th grade around 81 - 82. It had a cassette tape drive to load programs. They took minutes to load. It was a nightmare of impatience for a young kid. I loved playing that program where your cannon was supposed to shoot the other cannon. You were given the mass, distance, and wind velocity and were supposed to calculate your shot.I do believe someone made a mechanical keyboard for the C64 / VIC-20s. Yeah I mean for me, why would I want a 'retro' case for a modern PC? I'd rather an actual Retro computer. Granted these days instead of dealing with the old parts (which can be fun as well) I ended up getting an FPGA based C64 called the Ultimate64. It's pretty sweet. And is currently my only working 'c64'. Now being the Atari guy that I am, I do own multitudes of Atari 8bits now...
I don't want to go back to the beige days. Honestly, as a mechanical keyboard fan, that thing looks horrible.

I also ordered the parts to build some of these; https://github.com/tkoecker/amigakb [External Link] since I have that spare a4k keyboard. I got all the parts except the PCBs from Amazon.

Quoting: chrisqhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B08G4H448Q [External Link] This keyboard worked! Though I bought the one with red switches, and I'm not entirely sure I like them. Trying to use the keyboard for work right now, and they kind of feel good, but kind of mushy at the same time. Though I do think I'm making less mistakes than I normally do :PQuoting: slaapliedjeThanks for the update!Quoting: chrisqSo far.. keyboards have been interesting. I tried no less than 7 USB keyboards, and none of them worked. What finally did work is that (for another project) I had bought a PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse to USB adapter. That plus an old Logitech PS/2 keyboard actually worked!Quoting: slaapliedjeCool, looking forward to hearing about it. 👍Quoting: chrisqI really wanted them to come out with one for the A4000 (I have two A4ks and an A500+) I bout the A500+ mainly to check out the Vampire, and it's pretty awesome there, and would probably be my goto Amiga, except that it doesn't do AGA yet.Quoting: slaapliedjeI've been thinking about this myself, is it worth it to get the non-standalone?Quoting: chrisqYou beat me to it. It's kind of wonky to order one, you sign up on their page, but you won't get an email from them until they're ready for you to pay for your order. Would be nice if they could get enough stock in ship them out as they're ordered. I think it was 3-4 months for mine? They did say they'll ship it out next week, so I'm guessing I'll have the V4SA before the Atari VCS. I do already have a V2 500 in my 500+ with Checkmate 1500 case. It's a pretty sweet setup, just missing the AGA support!Quoting: Spl-itIt's here:Quoting: slaapliedjeThe Amiga inspired Vampire V4SA (ordered today)How and where ? not related to the Atari but I'm really curious about this one, I want one :woot:

I have a600, a1200, a500, a500+, cd32 and an a4000.
I wanted to replace the A3660 with a Vampire, as that is my Video Toaster version, and the 080 would be sweet there! My other A4000 is my overly expensive one with the PPC in it.
If you don't already have an accelerator / RTG in your A1200, I'd probably get one for that, as it'd be 'more Amiga' to me. But then as you already have all of those, may as well have the 'New Amiga' and get the stand alone :)
I'll let you know how mine is when I get it!
Beyond that, I had tried to flash the new 3 core (since I didn't have a keyboard I had to do it with a USB Blaster) and it still said Release 2 in the early boot menu, so not sure where else that would be listed though. Otherwise I haven't had much time to play around with it.
Even with your keyboard problem I think I'd still go for the stand alone and let my other amigas du stay as they are.

Also I have a desktop 4000 and one in a Tower (as opposed to an actual 4000T, it's just a standard 4000 inside a Tower case) and both of them are rather odd to work on. Mainly because they're situated so the Zorro boards are set up horizontally, (the Towered one is the same way, but since the motherboard is set up vertically, they did some weird base board on top of it so that it would fit, but it leaves very little area for putting better cooling within the area, so I haven't put my PPC in that one.

Quoting: DuncIt's kind of cute, but you can tell something's “off” a mile away. I wouldn't be quite as harsh as Nanobang, but “kitsch” is a better description than “retro”. The Checkmate A1500 [External Link], inspired by the good-looking Amiga 3000, is a more sensible choice (although personally, I'd rather have a 4000T [External Link]; the guy behind the Checkmate says he went for the 3000 because it's so hard to get any kind of desktop case these days).Watched a video recently that pointed out the reason the death of the desktop form factor happened was that we no longer needed giant bases to sit CRTs on... makes sense, but I still would rather have the system up on the desk to make the monitor stand a little higher up with the computer underneath it instead of sitting on the floor.
If we're going early '80s Commodore though, I'd rather have one that looked like a CBM-II [External Link] or 610.

Quoting: shorbergYup, brought them up in another thread before reading this reply. My sensibilities have always been that nudity is human nature and violence really isn't (or shouldn't be) yet in the USA we have silly laws like some states at least will require strippers to cover up their nipples if Alcohol is served. Like you can be 18 and go into a fully nude strip bar that doesn't serve booze, but you have to be 21 to go into a place that serves booze, but the strippers have to wear G-strings and pasties.Quoting: slaapliedjeWelcome to the USA. Where ultra violence is fine and sometimes encouraged. But don't you dare say a naughty word or try to see anyone fully naked!Good old Puritans [External Link].
(Had to bring that up as I was just getting into Conan Exiles again, where I had to order the UK version of the game so that the glory of full nude option is there on the PS4).
Just always seemed odd to me.
ScummVM to merge in ResidualVM, adding support for a number of 3D titles

I have been playing Conan Exiles again lately and it is one that had controversy as you could play fully nude. But it isn't like they are even sexualized at all, just nudity. Why that gets an Adults Only tag and not a Mature tag, I do not know. ESRB in the USA will instantly flag it as AO and Sony and MS won't sell AO games, so they only allow partial nudity. To get a no bottom game on the PS4, I had to buy the UK physical disk, then buy the UK versions of the DLC...
So blood gushing geisers when you chop someone in half and cannibal tribes is fine. But seeing a swinging johnson or a flat textured muff is just TOO much for the USA!
I don't tend to play Visual Novels in general. But it is all just a form of art. It isn't like the developers working on ScummVM would ever need to see any of it.

Quoting: monyarmSome people are so weird about their puritan values.Quoting: EikeMy project targets visual novels, including NSFW ones. I've discussed it with the devs on the Discord, and most of them are okay with upstreaming support for older SFW visual novels (Like Clannad or Kanon), but the NSFW ones (the porn/doujinshi games), and the relatively new-ish ones (like Persona), It was a no from the devs, infact one of them said that if a NSFW game was upstreamed they'd quit.Quoting: monyarmAnother worry I have, is how this is going to affect my fork (NovelVM), i originally began it based on ScummVM, then I switched to ResidualVM for the opengl support (and cause the game i'm working on has 3d). Now i'm going to have to switch back to ScummVM. And unlike last time, I have a lot more than 5 commits.I guess you cannot bring them into upstream?
