Quoting: GuestI use my Steam Link on a 4k 49" monitor (which means it's scaling it back to 1080p) but ti looks great, in fact my problem is with some games (tried playing Terraria on it last night) I have to try to scale the UI because I can't read it when I'm laying in bed (the TV is at the foot of the bed, probably about 8 feet away from my head).Quoting: scaine1080p is nothing *for a gtx 1080*. Btw, 1080p on a 32" monitor is fine, I' have a 49" TV and 1080p looks very bad on it(unlike 1440p). That's why I played the previous tw: warhammer on 1080p in windowed mode.Quoting: Guest1080p is nothing.Well. That's... quite a statement. Sound very elitist to me, to be completely honest. But hey, maybe you are. I admit I'm not: I play on a 32" Asus Predator 4K monitor at 1080p - a monitor that sits about two feet from my beautifully monitor-tanned face, and I can't tell the difference between a well anti-aliased game running at 1080p and one running at 4K.
Actually, I can. Because when I run stuff at 4K, I'm lucky to hit 60fps, even with my GTX1080.
But enjoy your 4K, I guess, if you really can sniff your nose at 1080p. If it were me, I wouldn't be complaining about performance though. Ported games will always under-perform compared to their native target. I find that 1080p removes any hint that there's degradation in the first place. And since I just can't tell the difference between that jaggy line and this ever-so-slightly less jaggy line, that's how I roll it.
There are people who can't tell the difference between 1080p and 4k.
Looks like both A Hat in Time and Gravel are coming to Linux, ports from Virtual Programming

Quoting: MohandevirDamn, that means we really should hold off on buying that on another platform! I've been kind of sliding over to buy things on the PS4, at least if they're multiplayer / better on a game pad.Quoting: liamdaweWell, it's a Square Enix + Avalanche game (Mad Max)... There might be a sliver of hope... Maybe? :)Quoting: MohandevirIt's just a feeling, looking at that knight on a Pegasus that makes me feel like "winged destruction coming down on us from the sky"... Just Cause 4.Honestly, if it's Just Cause 4 I will literally die happy on the spot. It looks utterly insane and it's exactly the type of game we need as a platform.
Edit: Added more details

At that point, it's just where your storage is. Would be nice if I could just dump my Steam games on my NAS and stream to any system in my house.
Quoting: AppelsinNot sure why you'd need it, since you can already stream over Steam on x86.Quoting: 14I'm extremely interested in pi-hole, especially the statistics page, otherwise I would just configure a DNS server myself. Unfortunately, last time I checked, there was only a curl | bash way of installing it (which is a big no-no), or a full distro install (and I want to keep my other services)... Ideally, I'd use a docker, but raspbian has quite outdated software (incl. kernel), so I think I'll go with Arch or Alpine.Quoting: AppelsinTrue, it's not something unique to the Pi, as there are many ways of achieving the same result, both via the router itself (at least LEDE/OpenWRT afaik) and a server/VM. But if we look at it from a general point-of-view, I would say the Pi does have an advantage in that it's very low cost, not to mention low effort. I also think "most" poeple are more likely to have an unused Pi lying around than having a server :)Quoting: 14A bit off-topic, but it's rPi-relevant:This is a cool tool, but it doesn't look unique to the Pi. I have a rack-mount server with quite a few virtual machines in my house, so the Pi doesn't really have an advantage here either. Cool suggestion though. Maybe I'd run that in a VM.
I was in the same boat, kinda. Had a Pi lying around, with no real use for it. Then a friend showed me Pi-hole [External Link]. Network wide ad-block. Highly recommended.
Regarding Steam link, has anyone tried to run that executable under qemu on a x86 machine? That could be handy as well :)

At least in the Spirit of the original Atari (talking Bushnell era) they did all sorts of Shenanigans, granted they were fun and entertaining Shenanigans, and not dark, and disturbing shenanigans....Evil shenanigans.

For what it's worth, I think it's locked at 60fps, (that's the highest it would hit, even with my monitor at 144hz)
Resolution is set to 2560x1440.

Quoting: BTREI suppose I should bench it on my 2080 RTX. :pQuoting: GuestFor me, this game was running very poorly and also crashed a lot. I was really waiting for it but it turned out to be a disappointment...I'm thirding the bewilderment at your poor performance. Liam's own benchmarks on a 980 Ti as well as other people in the comments with varying hardware show that it's working just fine for most people. Maybe it's a driver issue on your end? If you think it isn't, email Feral about it.

Just tried Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, one of the games I know directly support PhysX. It doesn't actually work under Proton. Well the game does, the PhysX portion does not.

Well, there was talk in the thread on here about the Steam Link that was saying that they didn't work as well on AMD cards due to lack of nvenc on them. That is where I got the information. I haven't bought a Radeon card since my 9250 I bought for my Amiga...

Hmm, my questions are... why didn't they just release a Link 2 with an RPi built in (I really like the Link's case / size) along with 'build your own'.
Other question... how do I integrate this with Emulation Station!?
I already have a RetroPi set up on a 3 B+ with the roms mounted over sshfs, and it works great with my 8bitdo controller. But if I could ad Steam Streaming to it to work with the UI... though some of the games I would certainly rather play with the Steam Controller.
