Tropico 5 was pretty simple, overly complex games are ones like Crusader Kings 2...

Quoting: GuestLike many others here, I'm inclined to pay full price for this now. Next week though; real life taxed me heavily on my last paycheck, lol.*Homer Simpson voice* Stupid real life, stupid taxes, stupid mortgage, stupid phone that was the same as my mortgage payment.

Quoting: lucifertdarkI have every Tropico game released so far, along with every DLC & I have yet to play a single one of them, I will be buying Tropico 6 so it'll get added to the list of games I really need get on with playing.Ha, I have played a bit of the first and was amazed at how well the 5th plays with the Steam Controller, but beyond playing those two for an hour or so, I am in the same boat where I own all of them, but haven't really played them.

Tropico has always looked absolutely fantastic. I remember some magazine article about the first game where they were creating little trees like those who play Miniatures games like to do, and then they were rendering based on those miniature trees.
Kalypso is quickly turning into another publisher like Paradox, though mysteriously we never got Urban Empire. Though looking at the reviews on Steam, maybe that's a good thing?

I just uploaded the first Linux build. For anyone that already has the game, it should automatically download (if you're on a Linux machine). I have a batch of Beta keys to give out as well. PM me and I'll send you a key. Bear in mind, this is the first Linux build and it's entirely untested. I'm hoping it just works without a hitch, but that's rarely the case... If you already PM'd me, please do so again (Steam's chat system is pretty clunky).Well, there you have it.

I've seen this happen a few times with other games. And some of those times they insert some funny thing later in the game to say "Hey, we know you're enjoying your free copy, why not toss us some coin?"
I actually bought this long ago while it was in Early Access. Sadly they don't natively support the Steam Controller, but at least some of the community have already created a mapping that works well under Linux, and it's not a case of broken controller support like 12 is better than 6, or Hero Siege.

I'm really liking this game. The environment working against you is a bit of a new flavor, only really have seen that in a deeper RPG like Divine Divinity: Original Sin. About the only thing I find odd is the collection of the hearts so you can blood sacrifice and gain levels. Though I played an archer, so maybe it was a bit more annoying to have to run and fetch them after slaying things.

It seems to me that Paradox treats DLC as a sort of 'we can finally finish the game!' type release. It's similar in scope to something like Star Citizen. "Pay us for the Arena, then pay us for the solo campaign, then pay us for the landing.." etc.
Mechanics should be a 'free patch included' thing, so everyone can use it. If they are adding new countries, maps, expanding the game out in scope, etc then I could see those being smallish priced DLC. But CK2 has gotten ridiculous, if you want to buy everything from the beginning, you're looking at $300 or so...
Granted the worse offender to me is Dead or Alive 5. Not only do you only get a few fighters for the base cost, but then they try to sell every little skin/costume to you, and there are TONS of them.

By the way, Fallout 4 VR was announced as being released on December 12th (at least I think that is accurate.) I think Doom VFR is to be released a bit before that.
Sadly I doubt either will come to Linux. I wonder if Bethesda has thought about switching all of their engines over to Vulkan, Doom looks fabulous on it.
