And yeah, Metal doesn't even support proper graphics shaders, and compute shaders are out of question...Apple really don't care about games outside iOS.

Like it or not, Apple as gaming platform is dying and Linux soon will be on it's own. Said that, as many people pointed out, DirectX12 -> Vulkan path is much less costly than DirectX -> OpenGL, and many engines already adding or planning to add Vulkan support, decreasing required work even more.
It will all go down to numbers - if Steam Machines and Linux desktop machines combined and potential sales numbers will increase consistently, there's fair chance for games to be ported.
As for Blizzard - I don't think they even care about Mac anymore, they are owned by Activion now, which only sees green.
Anyhow, having DOTA 2 Vulkan port - on both platforms - is GREAT deal for us. And it will matter on Intel graphics than people realise.

Quoting: aFoxNamedMorrisOn my end, the game renders with lots of square planes and missing textures if I run in GL4 mode. Also, to use the 'Epic' settings, I have to set them to 'High' and back to 'Epic'.Free drivers? Check out for missing texture compression.

What's awesome that it works on nouveau with re-clocked Kepler (760 GTX) card with minimal to no artefacts (need texture compression support installed of course). Also game itself looks amazing.
First Steps with OpenVR and the Vive on Linux

Already many games and engines do support it or plan to support it. And it is enjoyable. So you are wrong. It is ok to admit that it sucks that there's no official support for Linux yet, but let's no go full sour grapes here.

Quoting: WorMzySorry to burst your imaginary bubble, but try tell this to people who have been using VR to play Elite: Dangerous for more than 2 years for hundreds of hours.Quoting: EikeFor the record, I have tried a couple of VR demos (not including "cardboard" ), and I share the same opinion as Mountain Man. It's an interesting experience, and very immersive, but it isn't something I would pay X hundred pounds for, and I can't see that many games a) supporting it, or b) being particularly enjoyable while using it for more than say 20 minutes.Quoting: Mountain ManI'm still of the opinion that this whole VR craze is going to be another short-lived novelty like 3D televisions and motion controls (other than the Nintendo Wii) once people realize that it doesn't meaningfully enhance their gaming experience. Professional applications, yes, but entertainment? I don't see it.I'm still to hear this opinion by someone who tried a real VR device. Did you?

I reall doubted they wouldn't release it for Linux - CivV was highly successful on Linux/SteamOS after all. As not being on release - as it is not in-house port, that's understandable. Also with Civ having known issues at release usually it most people will wait for first DLC to drop anyway.
What bothers me a bit that at this point having same OpenGL port for Mac and Linux might drag us down a bit. OpenGL on Mac is in effective limbo state and Apple seems have deemed it to silent, silent death there.

I have heard good things about F1 2015. I haven't played formula games for long time (sports games too), but they are insanely popular for good reasons.
