Leak: AMD's new driver will apparently offer much better performance on Linux

Finally, about time. I am Nvidia user, but just out of pure necessity - I believe we need AMD and maybe even another one vendor to get graphics cards prices at reasonable level (currently they cost insane). AMD trying to get their shit done is good news, even all of those are small steps.

If this keeps moving on (along with their recent open source push), I will considering buying AMD next time card upgrade comes up.

Ars Technica Benchmarks Show Windows 10 Beating SteamOS Performance

I don't see problem here - this is at least some objective journalism. Yes, lot of ports have compromises cooked in and SteamOS isn't in it's best shape yet. As I believe in slow burner improvements regarding this, I just see it as another task to tackle for developers.

I personally don't think Vulkan is any kind of salvation here. Binary drivers just has to get better. Overall infrastructure has to get better. Also specific Steam Machine performance matters. People won't install SteamOS on their old boxes.

Origin PC Is No Longer Doing A SteamOS Steam Machine

No one's really forced to roll out their Steam Machine. As long as we have good selection of few of them for reasonable price point and performance, no one will complain.

As for Allienware, Dell knows their shit when it comes to Linux desktop - after all, they keep rolling out very solid Ubuntu Linux OEM desktops. They are not available everywhere, but they are very consistent in support and offerings. So I think Dell will do quite well in that regard.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroWell, there go my extremely unrealistic hopes of a Fallout 4 release :(
I was at least hoping for a surprise Witcher 3 or Mad Max announcement since those are two games that were originally slated for Linux.

I'm not really disappointed about Fallout 4, to be honest, because Bethesda games are traditionally hellaciously buggy, and Fallout 4 appears to be no exception. It also sounds like it has been dumbed down from Fallout 3, which was already dumbed down from the orginal Fallout games.
Yeah, yeah - the grapes are sour. Face it, people - the Fallout 4 release completely outshone Steam Machine day. People care about the Controller and the Link, but they don't care about a system that can't run Fallout 4, the Witcher III or GTA V. Plain and simple.
Wii U also don't run any of these games. I find Fallout kinda interesting, but is it killer game? Not really. Gaming is huge. All these games are big but they aren't whole gaming.

Said that, I will buy Witcher III at same minute they release it on SteamOS, as for Fallout 4 and GTA V - strangely, they don't get my heart going (Saint Row IV is another matter).

Can we stop being so insecure about Steam Machines? Seriously. No new AAA games? I personally rather have well working current ones, not rushed out of the gate ports with broken things. We all knew it will be low key, slowly moving, gathering pace effort. Let's celebrate it! I have about 10 games untouched on my Steam list, and I want to play all of them.

Enjoy what we got.

Trying to be way too picky?
Don't be ridiculous! People will see this and think the depicted games are on Linux. unless they pay close attention. How many of us can say that the general consumer does that, however?
Nonsense. It is fast frame passing by in an *ad*. Seriously, people, stop being such downers.

Now that's what I call good SM ad. Also I like how they don't shy away from it running SteamOS. Now, let's wait for naysayers to tear it all down :)

Do they know something we don't?
Witcher 3 has always been shown whatever Valve has advertised SteamOS. It was also game listen in games coming to SteamOS during GDC. As there's no official information about port yet, there's little to speculate about that. However signs are there.
