High settings works for me on GTX 760. Some graphics glitches there and here, and mouse sensitivity is a bit issue, but overall game is very responsive.

Quoting: GuestI wouldn't honestly expect it until after a PS4 release, which would give time for Vulkan/SteamOS etc to settle down a bit too.Yes, Playstation 4 version will definitely follow next year, it is just no brainer. As for Linux version they can revisit it when SteamOS gets a solid few percentage (2% - 5%) market share on Steam platform gaming. It's really in Valve hands atm. Company also have lots of stuff on their plate so I would prefer for them to flash out game before worry about Linux port.

There's nothing scammy about that.

Quoting: Mountain ManI was put-off of Elite: Dangerous because of the scammy nature of their early access program (charging something like 4 times the price for the "privilege" of beta testing), and I'm not entirely sure I want to support the developers because of it.Not sure I follow. What's scammy about beta access being for higher tiers? Lot of Kickstarter/crowdfunding projects do that. Later corresponding access was sold because they couldn't undersell their early backers, could they? Maybe it is just not worth to get beta access if it that expensive to you and not go all 'sour grapes' about that? Beta accounts got wiped anyway.
There's nothing scammy about that.

Recent AMA on reddit David said it is not in the plans at the moment. They use Linux for servers. Obviosly they want to see more concrete strides of Steam Machine and some market solidification before comitting - they are small company and don't have money to waste. Issue is that OS X version is also stuck at base game due of Apple not supporting OpenGL beyond 4.1 (FD needs 4.3 with compute shaders for Horizons which contains planetary landings).
So it is worth to *keep* asking, however they will do it only a bit certain they will get money back.

Finally some official word. Ok, so spec is done and it goes trough lawyers and tests being created. This sounds encouraging.

This is the case where I can fully agree that bringing in Vulkan will help. This situation sucks, but overall it is hard to put all blame on one part of puzzle. I hope this clears out as we get engine Vulkan supports appearing and OpenGL legacy code updated to handle issues with workarounds.

Steam Machine on launch had more games to play than XBO and PS4. SteamOS is solid platform, works well, and for first iteration is clearly good quality product. I really fail to see why anyone should shun it - except you know, Windows vs. Linux tribalism.

Quoting: Comandante oardoI think Codeweavers should work with VALVe for to bring an official compatibility layer to SteamOS.. keep in mind that most of the steam catalogue will NEVER be ported to Linux... You know.. EA.. Activision.. Ubisoft.. Bethesda..I don't think it should be called official or anything...more like pick several games known as running very reliably performance wise under Linux and just add them to the mix. They still would need agreement from publisher though.

Quoting: JudasIscariotQuestion:Direct3D 11 patches from Crossover are getting dropped in git master one by one. It is not there yet, but I suspect in spring Wine git we will be able to run DX11 games at rudimentary basis.
Do these two fixes mean anything as far as DX10/11 support is concerned:
d3d11: Make blend_factor optional in d3d11_immediate_context_OMSetBlendState().
d3d10core/tests: Add test for NULL blend factor in OMSetBlendState().
Or is it something else entirely?

Considering all newest Windows are nagging you to register and is very PITA to setup pirated versions, I doubt they will get Windows updates. Most likely they will discover they can a) stream games from PC and b) play some of their catalog native.
