The new GOG profile system is out, looks quite slick

As an aside, MS are bringing out a Winforms and WPF compatibility layer for .Net Core that will allow existing projects to move away from .Net Framework without going through a complete rewrite. Will only support Windows though so not a way to run those guis on Linux.
Another aside, MS now own and support Mono.

Quoting: x_wingThe core may not be a problem, but you will run in to big troubles if you use WPF for your GUI (for instance). Although Mono does a good job to run .net, I would really avoid that technology (unless you really do multiplatform QA since the start of the project). Anyway, no idea if that's the problem with GoG Galaxy, but I recall that this was a problem they have/will have with "Installation 01" launcher (if they ever want to make the port...).Anyone using WPF (or Winforms) for a modern application is making a very odd choice. There are so many better ways to write guis in a cross-platform way; why choose a outdated platform specific one?

Quoting: x_wingI mean, it's just a game downloader launcher, there is no technical difficulty for doing so (well, at least if you don't start your project using .net technologies :/).Nothing to do with .Net. .Net Core is fully supported by MS on Linux and is fast too.

Quoting: LakortaHow about Grid Autosport? Is that any good?I'm really enjoying it. Looks good and drives well. My only real criticism is that the AI is a little ram happy in open wheeled cars. Works well for touring cars but it's a little annoying to pull off a nice pass and then have the passed bot ram into you and damage your open wheeler.
Overall though, definitely worth playing.
Leaving Lyndow removes Linux support from Steam due to masses of bug reports

Quoting: Andrei B.I think that developers should be able to mention (on Steam) what distribution they're supporting. People can't seriously expect developers to support dozens of distributions. There aren't really dozens of distros though. Most "distros" are just modifications of others. How many distros are just Ubuntu with some flavour for example?
Quoting: Andrei B.On the other hand, I find disturbing what this developer has done. Simply removing support for a platform is really not cool and borderline illegal. What if I only had access to Linux? It's not illegal. At worst he'll have to offer a refund to Linux users if he promised ongoing support and updates.
Quoting: Andrei B.Plus, removing support is usually done gradually, with a lot of time in advance. Like a year, for example, so that users can find alternative solutions.Sure, for systems with a critical function. Games hardly fit into that category. Exactly what problem do you need to find an alternative solution to in this case?

Quoting: liamdaweDevelopers stores
One major way to support developers is to buy directly from their own store or website. Like the Feral store, Aspyr Media store, Virtual Programming store as some examples. That way, you are guaranteed to not only count as a Linux sale, but support developers directly with more of your money (Steam gets no cut then for example).
Quoting: edddeduckferalcc'dI would absolutely start using the Feral store over Steam if you tightened up the T&Cs surrounding returns. At present it is very hazy as to whether you'd refund a downloaded product if it turns out not to run correctly. The refund policy is what keeps me buying from Steam over the Feral store. Would love to send all of the money your way.
