Hyper Light Drifter released, some thoughts

Honestly I've never shipped openal with my ports and I'd be concerned with doing that. You should grab it from your distro's package manager since shipping one could cause compat issues. It is certainly something I'll be adding to the README.

Sorry about the controller and openal issue.
Currently trying out some controller fixes, but we tested a bunch prior to release and they all checked out (given drivers are properly setup). I'm using SDL2 Game Controller api (just like steam) so anything that works in Big Picture mode via Steam should work with the game.
The game uses Gamemaker so sorry about the 32bit openal thing, the engine build is unfortunately out of my hands. Glad to hear you are playing and it is working out otherwise!

Yeah I've heard great things about switching to tablet. I'd probably have one by now if I had to use the mouse a lot. Yeah geekhack is a great resource.

Depends on the contract. Most of my contracts have an agreed upon total flat cost for the port. I finish the job, I get paid. Sometimes I finish under budget, sometimes I underestimate how much work is involved. Shadow Warrior was more work then anticipated ;-), but I'm a sucker for a good challenge.

@sub
My main dev machine is a intel+nvidia gpu macbook pro 2012. I have a separate box I built with an AMD card specifically for fixing AMD issues for Shadow Warrior :-D. Are you hinting that you are having amd issues? I'm happy to help.
@mirv
I've been using the Truly Ergonomic keyboard since it released a few years ago (https://www.trulyergonomic.com/). It helped a lot with my hand pain, but I think it's just too small for me (I'm a stocky six foot tall human). I'm probably going to pick up a Kinesis pretty soon since the wider hand placement is my main issue with this current keyboard. Besides that I try to never use the mouse. If I do have to do some heavy mousing (*cough*working on Mac*cough*) I use the hand that has the least amount of pain (I forced myself to mouse with my non-dominant hand a few years ago to equalize the arm/hand pain). It's a constant struggle :-D.

@Shmerl
The port was started by Edward Rudd (@outoforder_cc) who handed it off to me late last year. Most of my time was spent porting the DX11 renderer to OpenGL. The linux and mac port should be 1:1 to the DX11 version graphically. The game isn't using any features specific to DX11 so I was able to get away with just OpenGL 3.2+ (comparable to DX10).

Basically I'd recommend you make sure you have the latest fglrx driver. It fixes issues similar to what you are describing and increases perf a bit too I believe. I can't grantee I'll follow up on comments here so do continue the conversation on the steam forums. Thanks.
