"Yes, we will release on Linux as well as Steam OS."

So... they'll release on Linux.

Based on these comments, it sounds like "free" is a fair asking price for the Linux port.

Really..? I can't see, why you actually need to have high fps in a board game like Civilization. Certainly, on low-end hardware, the game is stuttering. However, you don't need a high-end rig to play it properly. I do my "good-night Civ 6 sessions" with playable performance on a i5-4200U + 730M notebook (with integrated GPU it's pretty unplayable though).
It's not unplayable, and it's still a fantastic game (I rate it as one of the best Civ games ever made). It's just that it would be nice to see it running at 60FPS rather than 20FPS late-game. Even though it's turn-based, nice, smooth graphics would enhance the feel.

When you only have a couple of interns working part-time on your Linux port, it can take awhile to get things done.

That said, those guys have done a hell of a job on this port.

It doesn't look like there are any Linux specific fixes in the patch. I was hoping for some performance improvements.

If they had done their job right, they could have had the Linux version out yesterday. When will developers learn that trying back into a Linux port is the wrong way to do it?

The graphics and art style reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

Quoting: Beamboomwow - and so cheap too? Wonder if it's very short then?
It's "early access". It's not unusual for developers to price their games low to attract early suckers customers and then raise the price as the game nears completion (if it ever gets that far).

Open source RTS 0 A.D. to get a 'Capture The Relic' gamemode and more in the next Alpha

Quoting: mas886This game is really amazing. I'm still waiting for someone making a Lord of The Rings mod for it.
I'm waiting for the game to actually leave alpha. It has been in development for nearly a decade, which is notable in and of itself since open source game projects tend to be abandoned after a couple of years, but I'm still suspicious that it will never really be finished.

I'll believe it when I see it.
