Quoting: Guesttldr; replicating Windows behaviour requires too much effort, so getting all platforms the same would mean changing the Windows codebase.Stupid Windows.

Quoting: GuestFrom what I understand, it would require a new math library which affects every aspect of the game and would require significant changes to the code to make it all work properly. Admittedly, I have limited understanding of the issue.Quoting: Mountain ManWhile I don't think it would be anything so drastic, it would certainly require some effort. Actually, I'm not at all sure the effort would be that large, but it might require pushing GNU/Linux and MacOSX changes into the Windows builds, which isn't going to happen.Quoting: SchattenspiegelI think I will wait for the cross platform dlc ;-)If you're complaining about no cross-platform multiplayer, that's never going happen because it would require a complete rewrite of the game from scratch.

Quoting: DamonLinuxPLI understand where you're coming from, but essentially saying, "I could get a superior experience by pirating this game instead of buying the Linux version," is probably not the best way to get your point across, especially since the Steam forums have always taken a hard-line stance against any discussion of piracy.Quoting: Mountain ManIf I buy product I want get full quality product - not semiquality.Quoting: DamonLinuxPLSome times ago I get ban on CIV V steam forum because Im askinig about next patch and adding missing in Linux version additions language like Polish. Windows version have it all but Linux not. And Im asking about adding it and I added that even pirates are a better, because on torrents is a modified version on CIV5 for Linux with adds support for new languages like Polish and Russian - in the meantime the person who paid for the game (like me) have restrictions on Linux platform (on Windows is fine) for this words I got ban :D http://imgur.com/a/2nmaa [External Link]Probably because your post was construed as advocating piracy.
I pay full price for CIV5 on Steam because I want support ASPYR directly, although I could save money, and buy CIV 5 in local Polish store for a few cents. But I pay for it full price on steam and buy it with all dlc. So I should get full qutality game like get Windows players. Yes? So why not get it? Because developer not want or not can. Not can probably not because as You can see, russian pirates can implement additions language from Windows version into Linux. So why? Because developer not want? or not have time? Then they should say - look, we do not have time for this. But no...
It like DRM denuvo. If you buy game with it. Probably you get worse performance and few other issues and pirates? If they crack it, they not pay any cents for game and get it with no DRM and probably better performance. So they have better quality.
I've never been an advocate of piracy. I'm not going to be. This is badly. But if pirates can in one day add the missing languages to the game, and the developer of the Linux version in a few years not. It's probably something is wrong.
So if future ports for Linux from Aspyr will be of poor quality, to be honest, that sooner consider buying a cheap key in a Polish local store, eg. from CD Projekt on cdp.pl than Steam. Because paying the full amount on Steam for a product that is worse in quality to the product for Windows or even a pirate version for Linux is a complete misunderstanding.
Especially if in my country on Steam I have to pay in euros and one euro costs 4.4 PLN. What gives 39 euro = 172 PLN. For the price you can buy in my country at least three good games in the form of a key Steam. Paying that amount is not cost effective especially when in the country minimum wage is 1,286 PLN and the price of the game is 172 PLN. To lot ... So as you can see, support developer who simply abandoned you, it's not worth.
I can understand developer - they not have time, they can't talk about future patch and etc but not moderators who banned for saying something true.

Quoting: MohandevirThe best way to support Linux is still to send cookies to the likes of Aspyr and Feral.Actually, the very best way to ensure Linux support is to keep buying Linux games. Developers care a lot more about their wallets than they do their bellies.
Get them by the belly! Trolls can't get a bite at these! :)

Quoting: MaCroX95I just don't understand why Windows users have this urge to bombard us on forums... What pleasure does it give them, if Windows is so great then use it and be quiet and ignore linux posts, everybody has the right to like different things depending on the taste. It is ironic that Microsoft fanboys accuse Linux users of being militant and dogmatic while displaying those very characteristics themselves. Usually their reasoning for attacking Linux support is that they feel that it could take away from resources that could be used to make the Windows version better, despite the fact that project management doesn't work this way.

Quoting: M@GOidSteam Controller works fine in Windows. It's s bug in the Linux version.Quoting: Mountain ManThat's the one that has me pissed off the most. And I know they know about it because I emailed them, and they said they were aware of the problem. It's ironic because ETS 2 was one of the games I was most looking forward to playing with the Steam Controller.Since ETS2 is, well, a PC simulator, their controller backed must be much more sophisticated than other games, because they must support a wide selection of custom controllers that the sim community uses. So I don't think they use abstraction layers like SDL 2. So something with the way Steam handles joypads is interfering with their games.
I not saying that as a escuse for then. I really want they put more effort on this.
