I think playing Arkham Knight on the go is too much to hope for, but playing Arkham Knight in bed while you stream from your gaming PC? Yeah, man!

Oh, so the sucky one is being ported and not the vastly superior original. :(

Quoting: SuperuserBeen thinking of playing this, do I need to have played the first Wasteland to get into this?
No. It's essentially a remake of the original game, not a sequel.

Quoting: NyamiouSteam users like you and me won't stop using it, but Microsoft can create a store like the Google Play store, you can install software not on the store but you have to go check a parameter somewhere to do that, then they can make it so that only software bought on the store appear on the menus, then they can mark the Steam client as a potential threat to the user, then they can use their power to force publisher to only publish new game on the Microsoft store (they would have to if they want to use the newer versions of DX), ... And this way most of Valve user database can be lost in a few years, less games would be published on it and it would die slowly.
I don't think that could actually happen. Valve isn't some start-up that Microsoft can casually grind under its heel, because Valve has the clout and resources to fight back and win. If Valve saw a maneuver like this coming, they'd quickly file an injunction against Microsoft and then sue them for monopolistic practices. And before you say, "But isn't Steam a monopoly?" no, it's not, because Valve has never used Steam to actively discourage competition.

Quoting: mr-eggI have seen an actual 3d tv, it didn’t need glasses as it was parallax barrier, but it needed some work. As a monitor it probably would of worked a lot better. But surely as i stood there things flew out of the screen and there was real depth :)
Yes, that's how the Nintendo 3DS does it, and it's actually pretty awesome.

Quoting: tuubiI'd say who cares, but I know a lot of you do. Personally I can't see myself investing into anything VR related until they come up with an implementation without the bulky headset. Hell, even 3D glasses are barely worth the annoyance.

Grumpy old man out.
I could care less about VR goggles myself, but it's frustrating to see one of Valve's partners releasing a product with the Steam brand that won't support Linux/SteamOS.

As for 3D technologies that don't require you to strap anything to your face, the Nintendo 3DS is an excellent example that works quite well. I'm sure that kind of technology could be scaled up to the size of computer monitors, but they'd probably be incredibly expensive.

What the hell, man. First, Valve delays the Linux version of Dota 2: Reborn, and now this? It's like a slap in the face to us Linux users from the least expected direction. And I call bullshit on their "Steam machines are too weak to run a VR headset" excuse since they have to know that a lot of gamers are running Linux on how powered PCs.

Quoting: amonobeaxNow that Unity3D, Unreal4, Source2, and Cryengine3 (to mention a few) have linux support, let's hope it will boost our platform.
There's really no excuse for developers not to support Linux any more, especially with the nearly 2-million Linux users currently on Steam.
