What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

14 pages in and only 4 people have mentioned Half Life 3. Having that released as a linux exclusive for a week or two would be about the only thing that would blow my mind.

I think the Witcher 3 would be the most important port of an existing title.

I personally am sad that there are no ports for Path of Exile and Guild Wars 2.

The GOG winter sale has begun, you can get Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition free

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionEven if it is free, I refuse to taint my library with any more games that do not support Linux out of the box.
As has been pointed out by several people, it has a linux native version that was done by Bioware. It wasn't done quite right. Basically I think they were guilted into providing the port because they had promised one all the way up to release. However, kind of like we see sometimes these days, release day came and went without the linux version. Bioware wouldn't say anything about the status of a linux port or if it was still happening. This may have been the only game I preordered in my entire life, and it was based on the promise of linux support.

I threw a colossal hissy fit on their forums and basically ranted and raved until another user on there offered to buy my copy for full price (which I happily accepted). I guess I should give them credit for not locking my threads and banning my account.

I believe the port was finally released 6-9 months later. It wasn't a very smooth installation process (I think linux users were expected to copy the files from a windows install?) and when patches came they were usually late for linux and, again, were not the easiest things to install. I believe the installer that is out there now was done by third party community people. I was so spiteful toward Bioware that I didn't end up getting the game until 4 or 5 years ago and I have yet to actually play through it.

Nearly 4 years later, Steam still won’t close to the tray icon on Linux without workarounds

Quoting: ajgpIm confuzled; is the issue here that if you minimise steam you still get the window listed in the panel; but to get it to close that and show in the tray you need to press the close option?

I hadnt even classed this as a bug to be honest; in fact Skype for Linux Alpha has the same functionality, minimise does just that and leaves a "window" listed on thepanel, but with the relevant option selected pressing close will leae just the tray inicator.
No, minimize does minimize it, but the close button also minimizes it, when it should close it to the tray/indicator.
Mine works as ajgp describes with compiz as my WM and cairo-dock providing my taskbar.

The developers of 'Darksiders' comment on the Linux version, they couldn't fix the issues

Quoting: neowiz73worse case, they could just wine wrap it. I'd be fine with that. this would be a good candidate for it. along with Darksiders II.
If you are thinking of having a Wine-wrapped Warmastered Edition, that won't happen because Wine barely supports DX11.
There was a time when wine didn't support dx9 at all, then *poof*, it did, and pretty well.

Developer of 'Steam Marines' talks sales, Linux represented 2% over the lifetime of it

I think I got this in a bundle, so I probably didn't even count as a linux sale :\

He sounds a little sore that "linux users claimed a bunch of people would buy it if I ported it" -- 2,000 is a good chunk of people. I doubt if that game had a "linux version?" forum thread with 2,000 +1's in it.

Quoting: GuestAnother Paradox game to be ruthlessly bombarded by DLC afterward (or have a huge portion of the game withheld during development) so if you want the complete game you have to fork over way more $$$$$ later on? No thank you, I'll wait for the GOtY edition, as with all Paradox games.
So I *really* don't like DLC. However, I really feel that games like CKII or EU justify microtransactions because if they're your type of thing, you can get thousands of hours of enjoyable playtime out of them. Do you need pink saddles for your cavalry? No! But why not throw some money the developers way for creating such a rewarding game and continuing to patch and update it years after release?

I also feel that Pillars 'DLC' was done right, as they're really more of an expansion than a dinky DLC.

Yes, please. If it's a game I might consider buying during EA (only 2 so far out of over 1,000 titles purchased) I'll know how to find it.

Victor Vran, the really great action RPG now has local co-op play

Very cool of the devs to keep adding/improving this game. Hopefully it gets an expansion or three down the road.
