Holy Captcha batman! GOG is having me do like 20 Captchas and giving me like 10x errors for every game I'm redeeming today.

I feel like I just trained the entire next generation of self driving cars. Everybody be careful on the highways.

SteamVR Beta gets an SDL fix for Fedora Linux fans

Quoting: basedMy Main annoyances are:
-having to mount base stations & them being fragile
-being afraid its still too buggy
-wanting more portable ("base-less") VR
-not having VR

Jokes aside do VR users think 3060Ti is good enough for VR?
I've used an OG Vive on a 2070 Super and currently an RX 6600 and it's fine on both, so a 3060 Ti should be plenty.

Improved launch scripts and log capture for bug reports.
That suggests they plan to do more work on Linux VR bugs, yes?
I would hope so. There are literally dozens of us playing VR in linux.

SteamOS 3.5.19 for Steam Deck out now for everyone

FYI this is the first SteamOS update I've seen come through on Discover. Something to be aware of if you're like me and use your steamdeck primarily as a desktop machine and have some custom stuff that needs to be done between OS updates.

We can probably say a final goodbye to Roblox on Linux with Wine soon
26 Feb 2024 at 1:16 pm UTC Likes: 10

My daughters were both addicted to Roblox when they initially released their AC and I refused to set up anything windows based in my home so they had to go cold turkey. They've been able to play again since September or so but the old one seems mostly weened off and the younger one isn't as susceptible to hardcore addiction as the older, so she'll be fine. Adios, Roblox.

Epic Games' new exclusive deal gives devs 100% for 6 months

Quoting: yndoendoI still have not purchased any former Epic exclusive releases that are now on Steam. Outer Worlds looked good, yet no respect. None of their current exclusives are inciting. With their current state, chances of me using their service is 0. Those developers will get a full 100% of that 0.
I bought Metro: Exodus since the dev came through with a linux port. I think that's the only one for me.

Get highly rated modern platformers like A Hat in Time in this bundle

Last time I tried A Hat in Time I (several months ago) I couldn't get it to run. I have owned it since Virtual Programming was doing a port of it that disappeared :(

Roblox still plan to make it work with Wine on Linux

we see a lot of value in it as a way of letting people run on Linux without the large investment on our end of releasing a native client
This mindset is one of the reasons why I am still not sure whether I am happy about the popularity of Valve Proton or not...
It's just a good thing. I have a huge collection of linux games. Probably 90% of my ~2000 title library I purchased because linux was supported (the rest mostly were from bundles). I've been going through seeing what works on one of my HTPCs with the new big picture mode and a lot of those old native linux releases are broken in some way but they're working fine with Proton. Win-win. I want native titles, but I'm happy Proton exists and is so good.

I'm not going to hold my breath. I did end both of my daughters' $10 per month subs and listed linux being blocked as the reason. If there were enough people like me that's the only reason they'd care.

Nintendo Switch emulator yuzu gets a huge performance boost

Quoting: Mar2ck
Quoting: legluondunetWe had never known an emulator that emulates a console still on sale.
Not true, it happened with the N64 (UltraHLE), the GBA (NO$GBA) and the DS (Desmume). Citra was running most 3DS games about half way through that console's sales period so you could say that one counts too. This isn't a new phenomenon.
If I'm not remembering incorrectly Dolphin was already working pretty damn good in 2010-2011 which was very much in the wheelhouse of Nintendo's product cycle for the Wii.

Ethical discussion about emulation aside, this performance bump is really impressive for a project that's been out there for as long as yuzu now. Kudos to the devs.
