That's a very surface-level perception of things. This one sets itself apart by trying to be a much more realistic survival experience where you don't have a magical workbench that just turns stones into swords. Minecraft spawned a whole lot of very creative and fun games, and now when its in MS hands independent alternatives like this one are great to have.[/quote]Whoop dee doo. So it's "survival" Minecraft. I'd rather see more original concepts and art styles than simply Minetest+.

Really tired of all the voxel-based games! We get it, Minecraft is popular! Who cares?

Considering the huge sales that Stardew Valley and Shovel Knight have had, Valve would do well to take indie games more seriously. The indie market has plenty of stinkers, sure, but it is full of great games too (especially in genres that dominated years past).

At first I was upset that this looks too much like A Link to the Past. However, I have been making a point to find and enjoy Linux games (especially Open games) that replace games I enjoyed as a kid. I'm excited to see this one.

Too late. We have Minetest.
I hope you like Anime & Manga styled games, as GOG just added 10 with Linux support

I would be much more excited about an actual Linux anime GAME. Tired of the many visual novels.

I'm fairly happy with Lutris, but the add-on for Kodi is meh... Really the launcher that provides the best Kodi add-on is the one that wins in my book.
Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

I'm not sure what to think about GOG lately. I like that they have a separate Linux section now, rather than just showing the Tux icon on some games. However, bringing Galaxy to Linux would be huge for me, especially with the features they are touting!
There was a time when I would 'vote with my wallet' by not buying games from GOG until they change their perception, but I have come to realize that companies pay more attention to where their money is coming FROM rather than where it isn't. Voting with one's wallet has more to do with what you buy than what you don't! To that end, I will be buying more Linux games on GOG to show them that there is indeed a market for drm-free Linux games.
Steam has been great in its support of Linux, however, their online-required drm-filled offerings do not interest me as much as GOG's offerings. Not only are they drm-free, but often GOG offers a bunch of extras with games too. Steam has expansions and soundtracks, but no wallpapers and interviews at no cost.

I have been playing DOTA 2, which works flawlessly. Not sure if I like it or not.
Also play Minetest. It runs on anything and my daughters love it.
Playing Diablo III with friends. Happy to say that it runs perfectly on Xubuntu with WINE on my Ryzen 5 and Radeon rig.

I'm Minetest all the way! It runs better on weaker hardware and won't go anywhere regardless of what Microsoft wants to do. I would like to see more united efforts to create mods to introduce features that have become standard in Minecraft, though.
