Thanks for sharing the RAM and screen resolution facts. These stats are garbage as they are...

Can we ask if any Linux/SteamOS performance improvements will be there?
With large cities the game is performing poorly even on high spec setups... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylqySJ1LM9Y [External Link]

With regards to
Right now, for instance, you can only use one graphics card with the SteamOS
I'm afraid is true.

I have an nVidia 980 GTX; would have wanted to buy a second for SLI and switch over to UltraHD resolutions.
Well, on Linux SLI is a joke, hence is true that you can't have more than one videocard really.

It's sad but true.

Ps. I don't use windows, I've been using Ubuntu since 2007 and I buy Linux only games on my Linux PC (apart SC II).

Valve Rep Confirms Why Some Games Have Their SteamOS Icon Removed

This time I agree with Valve. If something it's supposed to run on SteamOS, then it has to run on vanilla SteamOS. No exception.

Do we need to have a Linux icon? No, that would also confuse things.

I think individual devs should get their act together.

Plus, adding pre-compiled Java might be a nightmare from legal p.o.v., not sure the small devs would be able to.
Stop using Java for your games and develop in C/C++, I know it's not a good answer, but quite frankly if you use Java you'll be entangled in legal bulls**t with Oracle till the end of the days (see Google vs Oracle w.r.t. Android... they're getting sued to have copied the API, think if you try to redistribute the Oracle build...).

Cities: Skylines - After Dark Patch & Expansion Released, Some Initial Thoughts

Quoting: STiAT
Quoting: EmazzaPerformance is a bit poor on a i7/32GB/980GTX with a city of 100K habitants...
Still, great game!

Cheers!
That's pretty interesting, I'm running an i7/8GB/760GTX and didn't realize bad performance (except for loading :D), and I'm running a city with 344k inhabitants now at 40-50 FPS.
To be complete, the game runs from a SSD Samsung 840 EVO 1TB.

I guess performance depends on the zoom:
* near >30 FPS
* medium (horizontal view) ~20 FPS
* far >30 FPS
Perhaps it's about LoD level and number of items or something like that... anyway, I do agree it's not a shooter, hence it's still playable.
After playing Shadow of Mordor or Dying Light, is a bit of a disappointment this low FPS...
