Areia: Pathway to Dawn aims to be a relaxing meditative adventure game

Looks promising. However, the homage to Journey may be a little too close, with the desert, cape/scarf, and meditation points. I hope they don't get sued...

While the details are a bit fuzzy for me, I am always a fan of Ethan's work.

The trailer looks good. I am a complete sucker for Metroidvania games, so I hope it is awesome.

The quality of narration is a good start and the game mechanics look clever...

How very interesting. I had not heard of this project before. As mirv says, this is excellent insurance. As much as Valve has been a force for good in the linux gaming world, being at the mercy of a huge corporation is not ideal. GabeN won't live forever and you cannot predict how management changes.

Update: I just finished it and think it is one of their best so far. A lot of different puzzle mechanics, but none of them too hard.

I am always impressed how well they "teach" the mechanics of each new puzzle type, just by gradually introducing new tiles and letting the player experiment. A lot of games could take lessons for how to build difficulty and player skill at the same time.

I think all the "Hamster On Coke" Games are very good.

Thanks. I enjoy some of these little number puzzle games, but nothing has really come close to Hexcells, other than (maybe) Patterna. There is a trick to getting the difficulty:reward ratio just right.

Looks like an interesting and unusual game. From the comments, it sounds like the dev has kept improving it over time.

Too many cool games, not enough time!

Quoting: NanobangValley crashed all the damn time, usually when transitioning to the next level, and downward glitched and wouldn't let me advance.
Weird. I played both Valley and Downward and didn't remember any serious technical problems? Looking at your PC info, I don't think mine is that different.

I played this a while back when it came out on steam. It is a really interesting 1st person puzzle game.

When everyone else was copying portal, Tri came up with a very cool game mechanic. There were a couple particularly challenging levels, but that may have been because I didn't figure out the right solution. I like that there is more than one way to solve things, though.

Anyone know why it was taken off GOG in the first place?
