Jenny LeClue, a very interesting metanarrative adventure game releases this year with Linux support

I tried out the demo ages ago, it looks like it has promise. For anyone who's a fan of adventure games, this looks very stylized and full of interesting puzzles. Slight homage to the "diary-reading" aspect of the Myst games, which does help set the tone and expresses the mood of the NPCs if there isn't much direct NPC interactivity (not sure how much there will be as of yet, the demo doesn't show much of that, but that's just the beginning).

Less sure how well the "choosiness" will factor into the gameplay, but the efforts put forth in the demo and trailer look good. Even if it turns out to be a short one, this looks to be an interesting ride.

Shoot. I'd heard Garry was a jerk from people, but this doesn't really make him look any better.

Even if the real news of this development is "we can't be arsed because money/effort" in PR-speak, give it to us, man. We'll be upset (some of us too much, no denying it), but if that's what you still really want with your game, don't leave us in the dark and respect your paying customers a wee bit by being honest, eh?

Quoting: scaineI'm a wee bit confused by "bring out the big guns". Do you mean Liam restating the "no personal attacks" just there? (...) Hopefully this is a misunderstanding of Liam's intent - not to berate you specifically on your last comment, but to be clearer about why he was unhappy with the original comments.
If your guess is right and that's what Liam really meant, I didn't get what he was trying to say. :(

At the time, the words seemed out of proportion with the directly preceding comment I made; unfair. Forums and comments should be a balance of order and chaos, or they aren't as interesting. ;)

Joking aside, if that's what Liam was meaning scaine, it makes sense and isn't unfair.

Jesus Christ... I"M DONE; finished, over.

I was being honest when I said I didn't want to speak about GOG or anyone working with them anymore. Why are you doing this when I said I'd stop breaking rules in the post above?

I'm more upset that you thought it was necessary to bring out the big guns instead of trying to talk things over reasonably. I'd still like to try talking reasonably if you're also willing.

What are you playing this weekend and what do you think about it?

I've been slowly replaying Valhalla, doing the "evil Jill" route (not really evil, just get everybody as drunk as possible... uh... you'd have to play it. ^_^;; )

Also been hooked on more Dungeon Crawl: Stone Soup; it's about to be the version 0.22 tourney in August! Great UI/mechanics/gameplay updates for it, too, playing in Trunk just to get them! It's an easy game to play on lappy in the heat, while also fighting a sore throat/cough/fever(?) from Canada's Wonderland.

Not just gaming inside, roller coasters are good too! ^.^

Quoting: liamdaweFor the record, they're one of the nicest people I've spoken to. They can only do so much, they don't make the decisions. Don't pin your frustrations on single staff members.
Feeling like I was being humored by JudasIscariot instead of being listened to left a bad taste in my mouth (it was the pre-MojoSetup days when they were asking the community about game packaging on the GOG forums).

It also took a lot of problems with GOG building up before I thought it was a good idea to leave, but Judas' behaviour was just one part of that decision. This isn't mindless dirt-flinging on a target of opportunity, there were reasons for me to talk about them specifically.

Even if it was rude, I still believe we Linux gamers should call out those who haven't been good to us so that we don't lose money, time or mental health on (what *some* consider to be) a bad deal. I can agree to disagree on this with you. There isn't anything else to say, rude or otherwise, about my experiences with GOG or JudasIscariot anyways.

Please also understand that technically, you're JI's business partner, they are obliged to treat you with respect. Your experience with them may not reflect the general Linux gaming community's experience with them.

I wear a pair of pants all the time in the spring, autumn and winter when it's cooler; so what are you talking about? ^_- (I do know, it's a joke. :P)

Not sure if you're being facetious about the "underwear" remark, but even if you aren't, here's the skinny on those underwear-like items: bloomers.

I'm sort of relieved that they aren't the norm anymore, at least from a pragmatic, realistic point of view. But IRL, I'd imagine bigger girls and girls on their periods would probably have a lot of difficulty with this uniform.

Quoting: scaineAs Tim Minchin so eloquently put it in his Commencement Speech to the University of WA [External Link], you should define yourself by what you love. Don't get dragged down by the things you hate. Even if that means taking a knock or two on the way.
Just reading that was frigging amazing (I'll watch with family later). Thanks for sharing a speech like that! :)
