Why would anyone want to play a gaming looking like it's been made 10 years ago? I never got why Flight Simulaters are looking that shitty. At least you could make a very nice and detailed looking airport, beautiful airplane models as well as volumetric effects for clouds, nice weather effects in general. Of course you can't make the landscape to detailed - you also don't have to.

I guess it's CPU related but they don't want to tell you - just because they can't fix it! It's essentially a single threaded game which would mean to re-do the whole engine to get rid of that. The only thing you could try to do is making the overhead as small as possible.

Is there a way to get a physical copy of the game (in Germany) and to make it still count as a Linux Sale? If I do already pay the full price I'd like to have it in my shelf! :)

@calvin: Many thanks for the article! I do appreciate your detailed analysis of what happened, is happening as well as how to get out of the current stagnation. There's not much to add from my point of view. Therfor I jut let go that for a while... :)
In my opinion SteamOS is a great chance: As you said I also think that it's great to get people to easily play games from their couch without caring about PC configs and such. At the moment it seems drivers could be an issue - but Valve had hired/is hiring people to improve Mesa/radv. In the first place for Virtual Reality on Linux - but just because you need games to perform well with Vulkan (which is their way to go) I assume we'll see a lot of improvements on that side. I also think VR might bring Linux Steam Machines back: Console + Steam Controller + VR Glasses: A perfect combo if it works with AMD + Mesa out of the box. No more (proprietary) driver hassles.
To me it wouldn't make ansy sense to get a steam machine: I'd rather config a "cheap PC" on my own - I do like it and the price/return is better than with any current steam machine. One reason could be that they're not selling to well, otherwise they might be cheaper.
@ALL: Please be honest: How many of you do either own a premade Steam Mashine or are willing to buy? To claim there's demand but then not spending is no good idea! The same happened with games in the past: Devs expected a higher share because the crowd was sheering for a port. In the end not too many people bought it.
So what we should still try to do is bringing up those Linux Sales: Convince your friends to switch to linux, generate Linux sales by yourself! It's a hard business - unless my friends decided by themselves to switch to Linux it's hard to convince them. Even though their might not be a single game that still forces them to use Windows. I don't get it... :/

EDIT: In addition, you wouldn't need to modify the drivers to much for every single GPU. Still the game devs have a closer connection to the actual hardware now.

Quoting: subActually I'd assume they do mean they checked back things are working. Or maybe some additional features are enabled for newer gen cards? Unless that's the case I thought the same as you do.New features:What does this mean?
- Added support for latest ATi and nVidia cards.
I thought Vulkan, done right, should not require such quirks.

Why don't you guys just accept a game could possibly have no cloaks?
I'm pretty sure they were about to implement cloaks, but then the dev team took an arrow to the knee.

I'm actually more excited about the Vulkan rendering path. I wonder if games like Cities: Skylines will update their engine. I hope the performance will increase, at least the low FPS.

I guess it's the typical driver overhead and maybe audio Middleware. Just an assumption so far. Maybe you could ask them via Twitter or reddit?
