Yes, there is a loss of performance for eON ports and there is a loss of performance observed on Feral/Aspyr ports, which is also a known fact. At the same time Eon ports can also be improved further like was the case for Witcher 2.
When a native subpar port is released we're more forgiving (ahem, Dying Light), but when VP delivers a wrapped port we go berserk even if the game works.
All these three major porters have delivered subpar ports in terms of performance compared with Windows and that's not good advertising for us indeed.
But they do advertise that Linux can become a gaming platform and VP delivered at least three awesome games next to those delivered by Aspyr /Feral.
A loss of performance from an eON port is preferable to a zero performance from a non existing port.

Would you prefer them to stick to only less graphic intensive games?

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyAt this point even our beloved Aspyr and Feral are delivering ports that are performing worse than in Windows.Quoting: dubigrasuFFS people, Feral, Aspyr, Icculus and all porters combined they will never bring all the games we want to Linux.I don't hate them, but they should REALLY stick to porting games that aren't as graphic intensive. Linux certainly doesn't need games that run worse than their there Linux counterparts on the modern hardware. At least for games like Infinite and The Line modern hardware can run those games at 60 fps no matter what.
There's a huge (and I mean HUGE) pool of Windows games waiting to be ported and not enough porters to go around.
And here are these VP guys lending a hand and you're pissing all over them.

Quoting: DissCentBut my critics are that the game has stuttering all the time when loading new areas or when spawning after level loading - that's really annoying.Do what Windows gamers did back in 2013, increase PoolSize:

Quoting: melkemindEven dropping all settings to lowest doesn't stop it.Just to be sure, remember that for some settings to be applied you need to restart the game (if you want to try lower textures for example).

Glad to see VP guys are still in the business of bringing good games to Linux.
Had no idea they have a store, wish I'd knew that earlier to support them better.

Played few minutes on SteamOS.
In short, performance is good although few will be able to play it at Ultra (too much V-RAM required).
It depends now on what you consider to be an acceptable framerate, but the game has sufficient settings options to reach a good compromise between good graphics and good performance.
Even at lower settings the game is still looking pretty nice.
I tried also the automated configuration but the resulted settings were way too low for my system.

Quoting: mannermanIf I buy this game through feral, will I get a code to enter in Steam or what's the deal? I don't want to install yet another game-client-installer-downloader/whatever but I do want to support feral directly :)Yeah, you get a key to activate the game on Steam and download/play it there.

In time I've learned to ignore reviews from wherever they might be, Steam or dedicated sites because I found that we rarely agree.
And that maybe because I'm more forgiving about aspects that might drive other people mad in their reviews.
So watching a gameplay from the first part of the game (if possible without commentary) is the best way to make my own opinion, without others telling me what to think.

Quoting: coesetaMetascore or steam score is useless. The only sane thing to do is watch some lets plays and decide for yourself if the game is to your liking or not. At least that is what I will do when the game really gets a Linux release.Absolutely.
