And already i spread the word about (also) this game quite a bit for the sake of Linux. Oh well, we should learn from these. I too want to email them about the details of their problems even though they seem to be just through..

Quoting: bubexelNop, valve is faking this stats to don't scare Microsoft, and think linux is not a real threat.Very possible. The Steam "survey" is obviously not equal in means of count it pops up on Linux and Windows. Why don't Valve just use the everytime login information?

Quoting: Avehicle7887Linux gamers are too often stamped as "toxic" for passionately and rightfully demanding what simply was PROMISED. Pretty much echoing the tone that was set to upset later on after the promise and when the money was in. It would be the best for developers to not promise anything at all if any doubt factors are present according to a Linux port.Quoting: rick01457I may cause some ruffled feathers here but the only thing I see wrong here is this article. Why you are calling out a mod of a steam forum for enforcing rules is simply beyond me. The whole '+1' trend, like Liam mentions, is spam, and publicly questioning the moderation of those forums is a no-go and rightly so.No feathers of mine were ruffled but I always keep in mind that people such as meraco, don't need to have a vulgar and offensive language to cause harm/discomfort. (going to somewhat extremes) A politician for example doesn't need guns and grenades to cause problems, yet they still are able to create large problems.
You mention meraco and accuse him of something you don't actually have any proof of (or at least provide any proof of here) and his response is far more reasonable than your characterisation of him.
This type of article looks like a call to arms against particular individuals. Is it any wonder that linux gamers get a reputation for toxicity?
Linux gamers may appear toxic, many times with good reason and here's a few examples I can think of:
- Linux ports that never came
- (Concerning GOG users), many games lack the Linux version on GOG where it is otherwise available on Steam. Hell if I had to comment on this point alone, it would make me look dangerously toxic.
- We may appear so because we're the black sheep of the herd. Win/Consoles have it all, Mac is supported despite most of their hardware is shit and limited unless you're ready to donate an organ. Then at the bottom of the list there's Linux, an OS that is capable of running almost (if not) any hardware setup Windows can, Linux gamers are more likely to have a stronger system than most Macs and equal to Windows. (Have to bear in mind that Mac buyers aren't exactly gamers so whatever game they get is just a bonus).
Can only say this to who frequents the Steam forums about Linux support - don't feed the trolls, remain polite to the devs and most importantly vote with your wallet.

Quoting: Al3sThat is exactly how he wants you to feel man. Don't feed the troll. Just ignore. Trolls lifeblood feeds from all kinds of negativity and make-feel-badQuoting: GuestGreat quote.“Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.”Thats why I stay away from such forums posts.
