Sounds rather interesting. The "original game" was on my wishlist, but I waited and the bad reviews did the rest, so this may be what I was looking for initially. Hopefully that's the case for a lot of people, including the devs.

I mean, working on a game for 7 years should pay off in the end :)

I'm playing Cities: Skylines since release on my (heavily) outdated AMD Radeon HD6950 2GB with the mesa (open source) drivers without any problems at any time whatsoever.

Of course I do not have 60fps+ but I stay over 30 fps for the overwhelming majority of my games, so I guess I'm being very lucky.

Great, then I can back it now. The game appeared in my kickstarter-"queue" but as they mentioned no Linux-Version I decided not to back it.

There is a local coop/splitscreen for up to four players!

I'm not sure if "not being able to defend yourself" isn't a way they wanted the game to be. Actually the physics are pretty neat, if you ask me and you can "dodge" the missiles if you move at the right moment (and they can then hit another player ;))
