DECEIVER is a cyberpunk pre-apocalyptic philosophical shooter that's heading to Linux

Quoting: Doc AngeloThe teaser is titled "philosophical shooter". Maybe it escaped me, but I didn't saw much of a hint of philosophical topics in the trailer.
Maybe there's a level where you have to infiltrate Plato's Heaven, and shoot some of the Forms. So when you return to the realm of becoming, not only are the entities that partake in those Forms absent, but when you ask people about them, they can't make sense of what you're saying either. I mean, it could be hilarious if handled right.

What does it mean for the terminal commands to be 'realistic'? Is it the 'realistic' emulation of a unix console? Or is 'realistic' a euphemism for BS obscurity?

> then toss gold to peasants and turn them into your loyal subjects in order to make your kingdom flourish

I take it as a given that some of them turn out to be anarcho-syndicalists questioning the legitimacy of your claim to power? I mean, I'd be pretty surprised if one of them didn't say something along the lines of -- Strange women prancing about on horseback, waving swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical equine ceremony.

Company of Heroes 2 is currently free on the Humble Store

Is it my delusional perception, or have companies really stepped up this giveaway thing recently? I've lost count of how many games I added to my collection this year, from giveaways. I guess it's an efficient advertising strategy. Maybe.

If you're a heathen double-booter like me, by the way, ubisoft is currently giving away Assassin's Creed 4 (which is a very good game, by the way). Earlier on they gave away Watchdogs.

Quoting: ArdjeIf you look for instance at the CBM8050 dual floppy fileserver you can't clearly see a mechanic, just a slot... That mechanic is there, but it's hard to see... You had to push it a bit backwards and then pull it downwards, until it springs into place.
... I do acknowledge that in the game it looks clear, so you should have seen at least something.
Yeah; what they have in the game looks like the Apple Disk II's slot, with the latch completely removed.

Quoting: ArdjeHmmm, 1540/1541 needed to be pushed down.
Then with the 1541-II, they adopted the turning latch/lever; which is what I used to have.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPYou got it all wrong. They imported their drives from Arstotzka, where they have always been manufactured that way.
The driver looks more like it's been imported from COBRASTAN, where they're sold by this guy. [External Link]

Quoting: wvstolzingLooks nice, but why did the 5.25" floppy have to enter the drive backwards?
It is getting more and more likely that the current generation of devs have never actually used floppy disk or even seen one in real life.
They also got the disk slot right; but forgot to add the latch.

I feel so old.... :(

It's also DRM-free on the Humble store.

I hope it'll also be on GOG by the time I can get it. (Zachtronics's games appear on GOG always after some delay.)
