This is the feature I was most looking forward to since it could really kill the momentum of a game when you suddenly found yourself boxed in by competing empires, and trying to them to like you enough to grant border access was a long and tedious process.
Bingo, it's space after all, there is nothing realistically stopping a ship crossing a border, it was a weird artificial limitation.
'Weird and artificial'? The Federation disagrees:

Folks running GNOME on nvidia cards: How are your GPU temperatures during normal desktop use?

On GNOME my 970 would be at 65C when idling -- something absurd and utterly unacceptable.

With no compositor (Openbox alone, or XFCE + Openbox, or xfwm with compositor off) it sits at ~35C; on KDE5 with the XRender backend it's slightly higher -- with the OpenGL backends it's higher still, but not as high as 65C.

Are there actual Asimov references in this game? Either homages, or borrowed concepts, etc., from the Foundation and Galactic Empire series?

I was quite surprised to see our XFCE beating MATE users!

Also XFCE ftw :-P.
I've used GNOME, KDE, Awesome, and MATE each for extended periods; but I keep coming back to XFCE + Openbox; by far the most sensible setup for my needs.

And so it begins, the Steam Summer Sale is here

I'd definitely recommend:

Dustforce DX [External Link] (75%)

as well as 'Super Hexagon' (link on the post above)

Limiting language selection is pretty crummy for expats living in places where they don't speak the local language well enough.
Off-topic, but I completely agree with this. Another case is that of using games for language practice. I hate it when region locks of any sort block my access to German and French versions of games.

Playing a long RPG, or a strategy in a foreign language is a great immersion technique.

What are you playing this weekend?

The Talos Principle updated, 32bit support for Vulkan and more Vulkan optimizations

Quoting: UrgickOk, I cant even change any settings under Vulkan without going a black screen
Do you have issues switching *to* Vulkan, or changing settings once already *under* Vulkan?

If it's the former, there's a solution. The in-game menu to switch to Vulkan is broken on some systems; but you can still do it via properties/launch options. Add the following as the command-line parameter:

+gfx_strAPI "VLK"

And hopefully it should launch with Vulkan.
