The Ubuntu Guys Have Already Worked Out A More Official PPA For Nvidia Driver Updates
13 Aug 2015 at 11:59 pm UTC

Is there a forum thread or something to read words written by these guys? Just posting a link to a barebones PPA gives me no context, and thus no assurance that I'm not installing crap.

GOG Have Supported Linux For Just Over A Year, Announce New Linux Installer System

This change doesn't really matter to me, except that it will probably help with the Galaxy client (which is what I'll really be excited about).

Terraria For Linux Is Making Great Progress
11 Aug 2015 at 5:22 am UTC

I started a new character on my Windows desktop when 1.3 came out early last month, and got farther than I ever have to date (I'm basically procrastinating on starting hardmode at this point).

I installed the Linux beta on my laptop and it's playable but not at max detail. This may be more because my laptop is old, though; I haven't played Terraria on my laptop's Windows partition in a long time, so I don't remember how well it does there.

I do know that I am able to play my Windows-created character on my Linux laptop via Steam Cloud, which is neat.

Aquaria Now Available DRM Free On GOG For Linux
4 Aug 2015 at 8:01 pm UTC

Got it from Humble a few years ago (and therefore have it both DRM-free and on Steam for all 3 major platforms) and also have it on Android from somewhere. It went on the back burner, though, because I got stuck at the beginning of the game when I first tried it. I really need to give it another try, but it's not even at the top of my Metroidvania to-do list at this point (Cave Story+ and possibly VVVVVV are ahead of it).

Rogue's Tale Dungeon Crawler Released For Linux On Steam
26 Jul 2015 at 5:43 pm UTC

Quoting: ZanvalIt would be nice if rogue likes would simulate through the generated run to see if it is passable at all.
Playing for hours/days and then dying to a ridiculously overpowered encounter without a chance just feels like being kicked between the legs without reason.
The problem is that most of them don't generate areas until you first enter them, and some even regenerate areas every time you visit, or generate different areas depending on your actions during the game.

They ought to just be smarter about generating things that are balanced.

Knights Of The Old Republic II Hotfixed For Linux, Restored Content Mod Works Now
26 Jul 2015 at 3:17 am UTC

Haven't tried with XBox 360 controller, but TSLRCM mod seems to be working fine so far post-hotfix. I'm happy because KotOR2 never worked right/well under Wine.

Rogue's Tale Dungeon Crawler Released For Linux On Steam
26 Jul 2015 at 3:11 am UTC

A lot of reviews complain that the randomness of the game is brutal, even for a roguelike. Hopefully the author will do some balancing work.
