Valve Is Trolling Us With A New Half-Life 3 Leak

Quoting: edoHL2 and ep 1 & 2 are amazing, I cant believe there are people here than haven't played it. They wont be able to know the reason of why HL3 has been waited this long, since the history at the end of ep 2 was very interesting, and then Valve just decided to not release the third part.
Btw, I have spent 50 hours on HL2, its very fun, and maybe because since I played it on a laptop, it runs better on linux than on windows, its a good linux port.
I've played them all, but when they were new (so not on Linux). I think HL1 was amazing for its time but even with modern remakes like Black Mesa it still feels a bit dated (but, hey, it's 17 years old!). HL2 (11 years old!) has good atmosphere and story.

Related to this rumor, its probably false, but would be good if Valve would provide a HL3 copy with each steam machine, it could help it.
Now that's not a bad idea. It seems like they aren't jumping in with both feet on the Steam machine thing, though.

A Linux exclusive or even early release of something like HL3 would be a disaster. Imagine the number of angry posts that would appear all over the Internet from inexperienced computer users who accidentally wiped their Windows installs trying to install SteamOS (which last I heard doesn't provide a dual boot option by default) on their gaming machines just so that they can play it!

On Pre-Orders And Other Nasty Buying Habits

I'm pretty sure all of the Kickstarter games I backed got Linux versions (FTL, Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, Shadowrun Hong Kong), which is pretty cool.

I got sucked into World of Warcraft for at least 4 years (late 2005? to late 2009), and it changed by life because I didn't have time to play other games. Once I quit WoW, I was riding a perpetual wave of sales on the games I missed. Now I can easily afford to wait for any AAA title to go on sale for $10 with all DLCs included, or non-AAA for $5, or indie for $1-2.

Yes, this means I'm now a "patient gamer".

The Forgotten Realms Archives Now On GOG For Linux, Eye Of The Beholder 1,2,3 & More!

CRPGAddict recently beat and reviewed EotB: http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2015/06/eye-of-beholder-final-rating.html [External Link]

It's basically a Dungeon Master (puzzle dungeon crawler) knockoff with some D&D mixed in.

The newest game of this type is probably Legend of Grimrock.

Shadowrun: Hong Kong Now Available

I backed this on Kickstarter but have barely played Dragonfall, so I won't be getting around to it for a while. Probably a good thing since I'm sure there will be bugfixes.

Would love to pick these up (especially the Gold Box games and maybe Dungeon Hack), but I'm a patient gamer so I'll be waiting for a sale.

Quoting: mr-eggThey published risk of rain :/ that's almost totally broken on Linux and windows.
I've played it on both Windows and Linux, and it even works with an XBox 360 controller in Linux. What is it that's supposedly broken?

The Ubuntu Guys Have Already Worked Out A More Official PPA For Nvidia Driver Updates
14 Aug 2015 at 4:24 pm UTC

Quoting: tuubiYou can see that the PPA is owned and maintained by Canonical employees and there's a mailing list thread here [External Link] as linked in the first GOL article on the subject. I don't know if it's official in the literal sense of the word though as the whole thing is very much a work in progress still.
Thanks. Looks like Aspyr is supportive, but the Shadow of Mordor developers are neutral.

Should consider breaking up the Debian category, as it accounts for half of the responses on its own. Would like to see the breakdown between SteamOS, Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, etc.
