Linux users also tend to run this OS on higher-end systems, so optimization is typically not as big of an issue as it is with Mac devices.
Uhhh, please don't make this an excuse for badly performing ports, pretty please!

My top Tower Defence games for Linux

Hey, there's an obscure but quite fun free multiplayer TD game called CreepTD [External Link]. Its USP is that you both build towers and send creeps. What's the catch? You send them to the NEXT player (clockwise) so they need to defeat your army! And you, of course, should fight with the previous player's creeps. There are also different game modes such as "send to random player". The graphics are simple but stylish and it's written in Java so you'll need JRE installed. Also you have to register an account on their site or from within the game. I've never seen anything like that before or after, it's definintely something to try out.

A new Steam Client Beta fixes Linux desktop and menu shortcuts, adds pre-compiled GPU shaders for Vulkan

Quoting: CreakFix fullscreen video? It absolutely does not work here, I got the video in 720p in the corner of the screen and the rest is memory garbage.
Use your distribution SDL2 with the client to resolve the issue (LSI does this automatically.)
You can copy the file over, abuse LD_PRELOAD/LD_LIBRARY_PATH to do this manually. You'll need a very recent
SDL for this to work properly.
This used to work [External Link] but the latest update broke it. Now Steam requires an SDL function that's missing in my current Debian SDL lib and doesn't start at all with that preload. Probably the system libSDL needs to be updated to unstable 2.0.7 or something. Nevertheless, follow that issue report, Plagman from Valve is on it.
Yknow the link you're pointing to is me, right?
Huh, your avatar is different so it hasn't clicked to me! On the bright side, updating libSDL to 2.0.7 really helped with the missing function and maybe with the startup crashes.

Nightdive Studios have given an update on the new System Shock, Linux support still confirmed

Quoting: rkfgNow that's what I call a commitment! Not only they did a proper video about the progress in all aspects, they even stylized it as a part of the game. It's easy to see whether people love their work or if they do it just for money and meeting deadlines. These guys are clearly the former ones.
They even had a playable demo, also for Linux! But it seems they have removed it from Steam since then.
Yes, I played it a bit while it was built on Unity. Worked quite okay-ish for such an early phase.

It's known and reported [External Link], I hope they'll get it sorted out soon.

Quoting: AnxiousInfusionNeat, Lua is one of my languages! I'm guessing only the game logic is Lua while the engine uses something else entirely?
In NS2 Lua is used much more than in Factorio for example (where it describes rules but otherwise is not called often). In NS2 all the input, including camera rotation, is Lua-processed. The engine is in C++ and it does really basic things, Lua covers a huge chunk of the game code.

The most important change that LuaJIT brought is reduced input lag. Ghoul, one of the developers who also works on the Linux version, said that the input handling time is reduced by 30-40%! Quite a big improvement and it really feels good, especially if you're playing competitively.

The overlay caused some freezes before, I wonder if that was the reason they disabled it (if that was intentional and not a mere bug).
