Natural Selection 2 goes 64bit, performance improvements and some Linux breakage

It's released for everyone, no need to apply for beta. Also, they said the fix is also released so the menu should work alright.

Intel TBB has been a source of freezes on map load during the "Downloading mods" stage, I reported it with a backtrace from GDB. Now that it's gone the game must become much more stable. The main menu is broken so you can't do much. Even connecting via Steam servers doesn't work because it can't find some NS2+ mod files while they're in place. Probably it's also caused by the main menu script being interrupted prematurely.

Too bad, the 64-bit Linux build wasn't available in the beta period, it only appeared today so this kind of breakage is expected.

Quoting: SamsaiPicture has a guy with a beard. Guess what game has dudes with beards? Skyrim. So, it's Skyrim and you can cite me as a reputable source.
To hell with that, it's time to admit that the game in question is Delve Deeper (because it has dudes with beards). That's what everyone wants!

Spoiler, click me
Or it could be A Game of Dwarves. Also dudes. Also beards.

Quoting: rkfgWow, is this the first time we actually solved the Feral's riddle? Unfortunately, they don't explain the logic behind them even after the release, but this one looks really convincing.
Pretty much all of them have been figured out ahead of time, if not (seemingly) as conclusive as this one.
Oh, I'd like to read about that. For instance, "deep charge" is still a mystery for me. All I remember is that people usually name the games they want to be ported or if they saw the depots on SteamDB. Probably I haven't followed those threads long enough for the answer to really surface...

Quoting: ertuquequeAaand Netmarketshare revised ALL the history of Linux data... now we barely pass the 1% marketshare. Ouch!
Hmm, where do you see it? They put September data back and it's down to 3%, but the QA notice is still there so it may change later. Other records seem to be intact.

Quoting: BrisseRotTR was published by Micro$oft and was even XBox exclusive at launch. Due to this I didn't think it would ever be ported to Linux, but if it is, then AWESOME.
Oh, COME ON! Microsoft loves Linux, they themselves said so! Ok, sarcasm off: we have at least one fantastic title on Linux that's published by MS: Dust: An Elysian Tail [External Link]. Go play it if you haven't already!

Definitely crossing my fingers for RotTR. Some of my Steam friends bought it recently on sale and man if those screenshots aren't breathtaking! That, and the story, atmosphere, all of it.

Could it be that the hw survey only includes you if you actually bought something this month? I suspect it could be true because the devs always say their sales are close to what the survey shows. And if you use Linux but didn't buy anything last month you're not interesting to the audience the survey is intended for... Just my guess of course.

I rarely buy more than one game a month these days because that's a plenty of games available and I haven't yet played some interesting titles I already have. At the Steam for Linux launch there were few and people were buying everything they saw, each and every new game + there was a number of huge AAA title releases quite often. Hence 1%+ share.

The numbers are slightly changing already. Not dramatically, but to 6.79% vs 6.88% (Mac/Linux accordingly). Hopefully they'll have the correct data by Monday or so.
