Basically games that were developed on/for/sponsored by NVIDIA. Usually NVIDIA helps debug the graphics stack (sometimes with developers in-house at the studio) and I believe can contribute code or libraries to a project. AMD's version of the same is "Gaming Evolved".

One of the benefits of something like SteamOS/Steam Machines is they can say, "We've sold X number of machines with SteamOS installed." Then they can estimate a specific user base, and they can also target a specific hardware spec (likely the Alienware Steam Machine since others run similarly leveled hardware).
Right now it's all just guesses and it's an apparently low proportion of sales overall (seems to average about 3%), and it's a vague demographic. Bean counters love specifics.
Also, since SteamOS runs off of Debian and Valve considers Ubuntu a first class citizen it's likely that anything brought there will work on other Distros.
In the mean time support the developers and publishers that do care to bring out their content.

Quoting: dubigrasuHmm, that's a really terrible variation, and the 99th percentile is above 33ms, which is needed for a smooth 30fps.Quoting: MblackwellThat makes it looks like something is stalling somewhere. That's for the duration of the performance test in Linux (45 sec)
Also it's not utilizing as much memory, though if it's not like-for-like scene wise that's hard to judge.
I don't suppose there's a way to get frame times?

Also you don't get 40fps on a 60hz monitor with vsync enabled unless it's also triple buffering (which is also not enabled globally or a game option).

Quoting: STiATVsync is disabled as specified right below there. :PQuoting: MblackwellThere's definitely something going on with the framerate if you use steam's FPS overlay. You can see that the main menu itself hangs out at 60fps (which, it's a menu so why's that?), and then after running the benchmark its framerate will drop to the 40's and 50's... in the menu. Yep.I'd guess the menu hangs at 60 fps due to vsync ;-).

And yes Vsync is disabled in both the game and Nvidia control panel.
The benchmark itself seems to get some micro stutters during loads from time to time (nothing major) but about halfway through the fps drops in the 40's and doesn't really recover.
For this sort of game anything over 30 should be fine for playability but it does all seem odd.
(Note: Ubuntu 15.04, i7 4770k@4ghz, GTX 970 w/ 355.06, and 8GB RAM)

I literally registered just to post a response to this forum post of mine:
Crash on Linux due to Techland Online Services [External Link]
I had a crash on load back in June and was able to debug it as a problem with libcurl-gnutls.so.4.3.0. It just suddenly appeared one day as an issue, not as something from a particular update with the game. Basically what I did was the following:
Edit: Although I do have the same crash at this point suddenly, but I didn't see an update roll out since I posted. Hmmm.
No idea, sorry!

I had a crash on load back in June and was able to debug it as a problem with libcurl-gnutls.so.4.3.0. It just suddenly appeared one day as an issue, not as something from a particular update with the game. Basically what I did was the following:
mv ~/.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4.2.0 ~/.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4.2.0.oldSo basically replace the old version with the system's newer version. This hasn't negatively affected any other games, but it's good to have a backup just in case. I hope this helps!
cp /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4.3.0 ~/.steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-gnutls.so.4.2.0
